• Then, I’ll show you what to do instead, to avoid having this effect your life.

• The biggest myth that you can believe in personal development is that…

Consuming personal development means you’re growing and will lead to new and different results in your future.

The Great Myth

• This myth seems true.

• It seems logical that the more you learn and consume about personal development, the more you’ll change into the person you want to be to get the results you want most.

• But reading and digesting personal development does notactually lead to you changing and designing a new future.

It Feels True

• Consuming personal development is what’s called PASSIVE ACTION.

• Passive action is taking in new information—it’s the learning, reading, listening, attending conferences, etc.

• Passive action is useful IF AND ONLY IF you then take massive action to apply what you’ve learned to your life.

Consuming Is Passive

• What’s missing in most personal development teachings is how to apply what you’ve learned in a real and practical way.

• Massive action is taking enough action until you get the result you want most.

What’s Missing

Have you ever read a personal development book, loved what you read,

and then gone straight to reading the next book without any real change in

your life?

Have You Experience This?

• I listened to personal development podcasts and read personal development books for years.

• But I didn’t have new results.

• I was still in a career I didn’t love, in law school debt, in a crappy apartment, in a relationship that wasn’t good for me, and I blamed my circumstances on why I couldn’t create the life I truly wanted.

• I learned a lot, but my life didn’t change.

My Story

• It wasn’t until I learned how to apply personal development work to my life that my results changed.

• In the last year, I barely read at all, and yet I quit my job, built my business to multiple six figures, formed a new and amazing relationship, moved to Chicago from Ohio, started a podcast, and became a life coach.

• I did in one year what most people don’t do in five years. I say this not to brag or boast. I say this because I worked for it, and you can, too.

Your Level Of Success

• The reason I was so successful and will continue to be in the future isn’t because I’m a unicorn or have some special skill that makes me better or different.

• I’m successful because I apply personal development to my life in a strategic way.

• In every area I’ve applied personal development, I get the result I’m going for.

Applying Personal Development

• The problem is that it’s not easy to apply personal development to your life.

• In fact, it feels much better reading, listening, and consuming.

It’s Not Easy

• Your survival brain wants to take in ALL THE INFORMATION possible in order to make the “right” decision.

• This part of your brain just wants to keep you alive. It is always looking to protect you.

• The best way your survival brain can keep you alive is to repeat the past because it knows if you keep doing more of what you’ve always done, you won’t die.

Your Brain

• The problem is that your brain wants to repeat more of what you’ve already done in the past, which will lead to the same results.

• If you want new results (more money, to lose weight, better relationships, etc.), you have to do new and different things, from your future.

• Your brain hates this. It prefers you to read, consumer, and learn. And you better believe it will make sure you repeat the past, even with all that new information you learned from personal development books and podcasts.

The Problem With Your Past

Day 1: Actions

1. Make a list of all the personal development books, conferences, and podcasts you’ve listened to and read (since forever).

2. Make a list of the results you have in your life that have changed because of what you read, listened to, or attended.
