Safety & Restorative Justice
Building RelationshipsTeachers will role model excellent conduct, respect,
manners, courtesy and punctuality
Teachers will meet students as they arrive to lessons and greet them with a smile and we are asking students to ‘smile back’ so they build positive relationships with their teachers
Teachers will:• Communicate positive expectations• Call on all students equitably• Increase latency periods when questioning students• Give hints and clues to help students answer questions• Tell students they have the ability to do well• Correct students in a constructive way• Develop positive classroom pride• Demonstrate caring• Prevent and reduce frustration and stress
Building RelationshipsWe expect students to make the right
behaviour choices
• House Points• Positive Notes• Certificates• Subject Postcards• Heads of House postcards• Top Attainers and Top Progress letters• Top Attainers and Top Progress Lunch• SLT Postcards• Senior Student Status in Year 11

If students get this wrong they be logged down on their record and will result in a lunchtime detention the following day and an automatic email will be sent home
Attendance: Days off should be avoided at all costs as vital teaching and revision work are given out at school that should not be missed. Holidays should be ruled out between now and the exams during term time.
No Smoking: We are a non-smoking site and students caught smoking, smelling of smoke or carrying smoking materials will be dealt with using the No Smoking policy (on the school website) and parents will be notified by letter.
Mobile Devices: Students are not permitted to use a mobile phone in school unless they are told by their teacher to use it as a resource for learning, students found using their phone will have it confiscated using the Mobile Devices policy (on the school website) and parents will be notified by letter.
Consistency
Communication
• First point of call is always the Tutor• Tutors oversee Personal Study Diaries• Tutors provide assistance and advice for students• Tutors help students to work on revision and study
methods• Tutors are the ones who know students well enough
to know when something’s wrong• Tutors are the ones other staff speak to when they
are pleased/unhappy about something• Tutors are the important people Heads of House
will go to when looking for information on you for references in Year 11
• If you feel you need to speak with a more senior member of the pastoral team then contact the Head of House
• All email addresses are on the school website.
Safety - Anti Bullying & E-Safety
We will not tolerate bullying at BBS and we are always looking out for any incidents in lessons and during social time. Students must come and talk to use if there has been an incident on social media the night before or use the email address below. We can help!
Reportbullying.bbs@taw.org.uk
Students can also use this email if they see anything that they should not have seen on the internet or if someone is trying to contact them using social media or preferably tell someone in school.
Safety - Anti Bullying & E-Safety
We will be asking students to submit applications to
become one of 12 Anti-Bullying
Ambassadors
Restorative JusticeRestorative processes bring
those harmed by conflict and those responsible for the harm, into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.
The restorative processes give victims the chance to tell offenders the real impact of the harm caused, to get answers to their questions and an apology.
The restorative processes holds offenders to account for what they have done, helps them understand the real impact of what they’ve done, to take responsibility and make amends.
• Address conflict• Build
understanding• Strengthen
relationships
We want all students in Year 10 and 11
to have a safe and enjoyable place
to learn and for them to all to lead by example
These are very important years and students will never get them
back!
Be the best you can be! Your target! We assume students
will make 3 levels of progress from Year 7 as an absolute minimum
This forms the basis of interventions
Target grades would put the student in the top 25% of similar students nationally
