strange)
[mo-sheng] is a word in taiwanese which has a similiar meaning to that of "strange". It is used to describe the feeling we get when we come across something for the rst time. For example, when we study abroad, the new environment and everything we see gives us a feeling of nervousness, insecurity, then excitement. It is a word used to describe the feeling of "not used to" Just like us, people who have spent a period of time in a foreign country (Japan), we have gotten used to the new way of life here. Rather, the things that we have long been familiar with back home (Taiwan) have started to feel a bit [mo-sheng] now. The foreign habits have become so natural to us that a lot of times our old habits seem so strange.Being so familiar with the Japanese culture now, what does [mo-sheng] mean to us now? Is it a change of old habits to new habits? Or is it a start of something new from something old? In this exhibition, every artist have expressed their own feelings of [mo-sheng], what is meant to them and what they have come to know about this special feeling.

private & public connectionFour square house
Concept1:100Scale
In a hypothetical Garden City grid of 36m by 36m, the assignment is to design four houses in any configuration, having as its only restriction that they should not exceed 162m2 and that each possess a garage and garden, "technique and nature" combined in the given 9m2 outlines.Using the maximum space available, a 9m by 18m grid is splitted into two sides, the garden and the room, each measuring 4.5m by 18m. The room is then splitted into 4.5m by 4.5m squares. By shifting the squares the flow is created. By lifting the squares, public spaces like living and dinning areas, are created. Although there is no literal garden in this design, glass walls are used throughout the whole public area to bring in the outdoor scenery giving the impression of being in a garden.
