UsingKalturatoAddMedia:ScreenRecordingKalturaisamediaproductbuiltintoCanvasthatallowsinstructorsandstudentstorecordvideosfromtheirwebcamoroftheircomputerscreenandeasilypostthemtoCanvas.Belowareinstructionsonhowtousethistool.

1. WithinthemainMyMediaareainsideCanvasnavigation,clickAddNewdropdownmenuandthenCaptureSpace(highlightedinblueboxbelow).

2. Anewpagewillappearwithaboxaskingyoutodownloadandinstallthescreenrecorder.Clickthatbox.Inthisdocumentwearefocusingonscreenrecordings.Tocreateascreenrecordingclickthe“CaptureSpace”.

3b.Ifthisisyourfirsttimerunningthescreenrecordingsoftware,youmightgetapopupmessageaskingifKalturacanrunJava.Clickallowtoutilizethistool.Uponclickingallow,itmighttakeupto1or2minutestoloadtheappletdependingonyourversionofJava

3. ThenitwillaskifKaltura’ssoftwarecanbeused.

Clickrun.

4. Onceyouclickrun,ascreenwillappearinthelowerrightside.Thisisthecontrolpanel.Youhaveoptionstoselectfrom,choose“Screen”torecordthescreenonlyor“ScreenandWebcam”ifyouwouldliketoaddthevideoofyourself.

5. Tostarttherecording,clickontheScreenbutton.Choose“SelectArea”ifyouneedtoshootspecificareaofthescreenandclick“SelectArea”button.

6. Afterselectingtheareaonthescreenthe5secondscountdownwillstart,atthismomentbereadytovoiceoveryourproject.

7. WhilescreenrecordinginprogresswithintheselectedblueboxthereareoptionstoPause(byclickingAlt+P);Resume,whenreadytocontinuetherecording,andDrawanythingontheselectedscreenbox.

8. ClickDonewhenfinishedrecording,itwillsavetherecordingandshowapreviewvideopage.Onthat

pageclickDoneaswell.

9. OntherightlowersideofthescreenpaneenterthenameoftheprojectandclickUpload.Itwilltakefromfewsecondstofewminutesforthevideotogetuploaded.OnceitisreadytoviewgobacktoMyMediainCanvastoviewit.

10. Accessspecificcontentarea(page,discussion,assignment,etc.)inCanvas,clickEmbedKalturaMediaiconandontheMyMediapaneyouwillseeyourrecording.Toputitintheareayoupreviouslychose,click“select.”

11. ThemediashouldnowshowupinthetextboxwhereyouoriginallyclickedtheEmbedKalturaMedia.

12. ClicktheSavebuttonontheCanvaspage.
