Tell us briefly about yourself and how did you discover your passion for the fashion collage.
22, born and raised in West Lon-don with a love for printed paper.
Through my adolescence - I be-gan taking part in various internships across the arts, from styling to work-ing at exhibitions. I slowly began to realise that I wanted to create imag-ery in an artistic capacity, from this point onwards I began to experiment with image making via the medium of Photoshop.
Working digitally was definitely the starting point for my work, as it gave me freedom to create and de-sign beyond my own comprehen-sion. Through much dedicated time working with Photoshop, I grew apart from digital formats searching
for a new technique that was more tangible and organic.
Through this burning desire to discover a new process to work with, I began to experiment with hand crafted collage - a technique I had always played with but never saw as a viable medium. Since then, I have spent many dedicated hours hon-ing my craft - finally arriving at the stylised format I work with today.

How can you describe your own way of making art? How would you define your personal style?
In a sense my overall method plays with the idea of ‘trial and error’ - I find that when approaching a new piece of work, its not completely dissimilar to fit-ting pieces of a puzzle together. Spend-ing countless hours scanning through extensive archives of visual material, with the end goal of accumulating a strong collection of aesthetically pleas-ing elements that are complimentary.
Once this initial part of the process has been achieved, forms begin to slot into place through newly imagined shapes and dynamic formations, different combinations will be tried and tested numerous times before finally settling on an overall composition.
In terms of my personal style, it tends to focus on lurid colour palettes with elements that are visually over-stimulating. I like to reflect my taste for the tasteless in my work, I regard it as a very important component in my pro-cess and the overall tone of each piece I create.
34
"I LIKE TO REFLECT MY TASTE FOR THE TASTELESS IN MY WORK"
35
36
37
What are the most important values you share as an artist?
The ultimate value to share as an artist - in my opinion, is complete accessibility. Art has a tendency to fluctuate between exclusivity and being all inclusive. Once art exceeds
the level-playing field - it slowly be-gins to get lost in translation and in part this jeopardises the public con-nection and thus altering the over-all perception. When certain artistic ventures create divisions through us-age of material, price tag and space, I feel these elements loosen the abili-
ty to be all inclusive and consequent-ly dissipates the idea of accessibility.
What fascinates you about the art world today? What are your main inspirations?
I am very fascinated by how fast
everything is. The internet has al-lowed everything to travel at incred-ible speeds, reaching people on the other side of the world in a matter of seconds. I still can’t get my head around it, growing up in the ear-ly 2000’s I remember the slow and very arduous task of connecting to
the net with a dial up tone. Its still incredulous to me how I am able to upload a piece of work to a social media platform and within seconds it can be reached by someone in Australia.
My main inspirations are accu-mulated through various spaces,
sometimes mundane things that are overlooked really catch my eye - for instance; objects thrown out onto the street or billboards that are adorned with years worth of ripped posters. In a really cliche and over-used expression, I am inspired by ev-erything and anything - all at once.
«I am inspired by everything and anything - all at once»
38
What is your favourite work of yourself? Where do you aspire to be in the near future?
There is this one particular piece I created a good two years ago, that centres around two Tom Ford thigh high boots darting out of pink carpet. This piece is a personal favourite of mine simply because it was birthed through a happy accident that turned out to work really well.
In terms of my aspirations for the future, I’d love to see many more collaborative projects take up my time - working with all the artists, stylists and photographers I spend hours fan-girling over. I also have high hopes for starting my very own magazine one day, which will double as a journal documenting work from many image makers that are doing really exciting and unusual things.
39
40
What is your favourite leisure for the summer season?
I love being in my hometown during the summer season, there is nowhere better than London when the sun is beating down. The main date for my summer season is Not-ting Hill Carnival - I live for this event every year and have been in atten-dance since birth.
Which contemporary artists or photographers do you fol-low? Who would you most like to collaborate with?
In short the main body of artists I follow are: Alex Da Corte, Yoshi Rotten, Tyrone Lebon, Carlinjn Ja-cobs, Rebecca Storm, Prue Stent, Pat O’Rourke, Vasilisa Forbes, Dom Sebastian, Harley Weir, Isama-ya Ffrench, Aleia Murawski, Signe Pierce, Florence Tetier, Maisie Cous-ins and Nicolas Coulomb.
I dream about working on a high-ly collaborative project with Alex Da Corte, he is my hero.
What upcoming projects can we expect to see from you?
I have some fun collaborations in the pipeline, working with some very exciting publications and even-tually seeing the launch of an online shop that will host a space that will allow me to sell prints of my work.

My name is Daria and I’m just turned 20. I work with paper, the material which I really like to shape. The sense of form dictates how to transfigure my art-work and I often do not put any verbal concepts be-hind it, however, I always glad to know how the view-ers interpret my visual ideas.
Who is Daria Senches? Tell us briefly about yourself and how did you discover your in-terest for handmade collages.
At the begging, I felt the creative intention and the possibility to turn it into ‘something’. I was keen on cinema and decided that it might be a fertile field for my ideas to come true. However, one case pushed me to take a step in another direction. I visited a hand printing market in Moscow and, being inspired by what I saw, I created my very first piece of art right after the event.
That evening I have recollected that I had a weakness for stationary from my childhood. I have started to polish up my craft with all available materials from then on.
93
"I REALLY LIKE TO SHAPE"
94
95
What is the concept behind your latest project?
The concept in my last project was based on my communication with a model. I captured her in semi-phases of movement and states in order to finalize the image with the hand printing tools. I am rarely motivated by a particular idea but a process of shaping the image, the freedom to set the tone to collages spontaneously. Now I am starting to work on the projects which demand special preparation and conceptual integrity, but it is not a personal project but a collaboration.
96
How can you describe your own way of making art? How would you define your per-sonal style?
I think that my style is still shaping despite people claim that my works are recognizable. I am planning to develop the distinctive details which would be used only by me. Maybe all the things I reflect and make the artworks from, are my style, but it’s different all the time.
What means “summer” for you?
First of all, summer is a desire to live and create. You can not miss it, because it is especially important for people living in our climate. You have to find your gems in daily rou-tine, the worthy things to capture and to keep in mind. Moscow man-ages to change too much looks as seasons pass, and they are different all the time.
Which concepts or ideas do you most enjoy conveying through your work?
I like social themes and overtones in the artworks, they spark you off. The artists get direct and unaffect-ed reaction of the audience through such a kind of works. But it is still the theme I am trying to approach.
97
98
99
How does your cultural environment influence your way of working?
I was born and raised in Moscow, the city of cultural diversity and strat-ification. Sometimes it’s inspiring, sometimes it’s irritating. I am not a part of any art group or community of visual artists but I stay up to date with their ideas and embrace some of them unwittingly. Some artists try to create something new, the others adopt the ideas of foreign artists. More young media professionals find their niche in creative processes thanks to dynamism and energy of my city.
100
101
What fascinates you about the art world today? What are your main inspirations?
There are plenty of sources of inspiration in today’s world. It’s more difficult to recognize them in this endless flow and sometimes I am jealous with people who notice more things than me. Analysis and thought can lead you farther than you expected and bring you to the new conceptions. Traveling is also a perfect way to find the inspiration. The atmosphere and infrastructure within different districts of Moscow are so different that I wish I could grasp them all and to keep the sense of wholeness in those odd pieces.
I like the post-Soviet photographs of streets, dormitory suburbs and sanatoriums; people there are seem to live in a kind of vacuum.
Cinema also remains a constant motivating force to move forward. The course of daily life is not enough for me.
102
103
"MY INSPIRATION
IS NOT SO CONTEMPORARY"
Which contemporary pho-tographers or artists do you follow?
There is no style or trend for me in art to follow entirely. I like many contemporary issues in which I al-ways find new names and sources for inspiration. My collages spring from photography, this is why I re-
view the works of Paolo Roversi, Ralph Gibson, Jesse John Jenkins and Rodchenko again and again; they are all different and all my favorites. it’s a special pleasure for me to think their styles over. If to talk about shape and form, I draw my inspiration from Le Corbusier and Richard Serra. So my inspiration is not so contemporary :)
