1. THE HVAC DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC AND ARE INTENDED TO SHOW THE APPROXIMATE LOCATIONSOF EQUIPMENT, PIPING, DUCTWORK AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALLDIMENSIONS AND COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION OF HVAC SYSTEMS WITH ACTUAL CONDITIONS IN THEFIELD.
A. PIPE AND DUCT ELEVATIONS ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS ANDELEVATIONS
B. DUCT SIZES ARE MINIMUM CLEAR INSIDE DIMENSIONS.
C. COORDINATE INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL WORK WITH ALL OTHER TRADES
D. MAINTAIN MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED SERVICE CLEARANCES
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE SHUTDOWN AND REMOVAL OF EXISTING SYSTEMS ANDEQUIPMENT AND THE INSTALLATION OF NEW SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT WITH THE PROJECTCONSTRUCTION PHASING SCHEDULE.
3. PROVIDE ALL METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR SUPPORTING EQUIPMENT, PIPING, AND DUCTWORK. INAREAS OF BAR JOIST CONSTRUCTION, SUPPORT LOADS FROM TOP CHORD OF BAR JOISTS AT PANELPOINTS.
4. UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, THIS CONTRACTOR SHALL PERFORM ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING OFTHE EXISTING FACILITY FOR HIS RESPECTIVE WORK. PATCHING SHALL MATCH EXISTING MATERIALS,FINISHES, AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION.
A. COORDINATE CUTTING AND PATCHING OF THE EXISTING ROOF WITH THE GC. (NOTE: THE EXISTINGROOF WILL BE REPLACED BY THE GC. THE HC SHALL CUT THE EXISTING ROOF DECK AND PROVIDESTEEL FRAMING. THE GC SHALL FLASH/PATCH THE ROOF OPENING.)
B. PROVIDE STEEL FRAMING ANGLES WHERE PENETRATING FLOOR AND ROOF DECKS; ANGLES SHALL BEMINIMUM 4” x 4” x 1/4” UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
C. WHERE CUTTING AND PATCHING IS INDICATED TO BE PERFORMED BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR,COORDINATE THE SIZE AND LOCATION OF OPENINGS.
5. IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT AND OWNER IF ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS SUCH AS ASBESTOS ISENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TOAVOID DISTURBING EXISTING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTPERFORM ABATEMENT WORK AS PART OF THIS CONTRACT.
6. ALL MATERIAL EXPOSED WITHIN THE CEILING RETURN AIR PLENUMS SHALL BE NONCOMBUSTIBLE ORHAVE A MAXIMUM FLAME SPREAD RATING OF 25 AND A MAXIMUM SMOKE-DEVELOPED RATING OF 50. ALLDUCT TYPE, MASTICS, AND VIBRATION ISOLATION CONNECTIONS SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM FLAMESPREAD RATING OF 25 AND SMOKE SPREAD RATING OF 50 OR LESS. DUCT COVERING AND LININGSSHALL NOT FLAME, GLOW, SMOLDER, OR SMOKE WHEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM C411 ANDUL 181. FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL COMPLY WITH UL 181.
7. PROVIDE UL LISTED FIRE PROOFING SEALANTS AROUND ALL DUCT, PIPING, AND CONDUITPENETRATIONS OF RATED FIRE RESISTANT WALLS.
8. MOUNT THERMOSTATS AND SIMILAR CONTROL DEVICES 48” AFF.
9. PERFORM START-UP EQUIPMENT IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS' WRITTENSTART-UP INSTRUCTIONS OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH FACTORY AUTHORIZED TECHNICIANS. ADJUSTAUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROLS TO ACHIEVE SATISFACTORY OPERATION.
10.UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, ALL DUCTWORK SHALL BE OF SHEET METAL CONSTRUCTION WITHSEALED JOINTS. ROUND FLEXIBLE DUCTWORK SHALL BE LIMITED TO 6'-0" PER BRANCH DUCT
11.DO NOT UTILIZE AIR HANDLING EQUIPMENT AND DUCTED SYSTEMS FOR TEMPORARY HEAT; OBTAINWRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO PLACING EQUIPMENT INTO SUSTAINED OPERATION.CHANGE ALL AIR FILTERS 30 DAYS AFTER PROJECT COMPLETION.
12.PROVIDE IDENTIFICATION OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT INCLUDING DUCTWORK ANDPIPING.
A. PROVIDE LOCATION / IDENTIFICATION MARKERS ON CEILING GRID OR ACCESS PANELS FOR CONTROLDAMPERS, FIRE DAMPERS, SMOKE DETECTORS, AND OTHER SERVICEABLE DEVICES.

1. OWNER RESERVES RIGHT TO CLAIM ANY AND ALL SALVAGEABLE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT. PRIOR TOCOMMENCING DEMOLITION WORK, IDENTIFY ITEMS OWNER CHOOSES TO CLAIM. REMOVE AND STORECLAIMED ITEMS. REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF ALL UNCLAIMED MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT.
2. THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT PERFORM HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ABATEMENT. IMMEDIATELYNOTIFY THE OWNER AND ARCHITECT IN THE EVENT HAZARDOUS MATERIALS ARE ENCOUNTERED PRIOROR DURING DEMOLITION. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ABATEMENT INCLUDING THE REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS,LEAD, PCB'S, AND MOLD SHALL BE PERFORMED BY THE OWNER OR HIS SEPARATE CONTRACTOR.
3. COORDINATE THE REMOVAL OF HVAC SYSTEMS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROJECT CONSTRUCTIONPHASING SCHEDULE. DO NOT REMOVE OR DE-ACTIVATE SYSTEMS NEEDED TO REMAIN IN OPERATIONTHROUGHOUT THE DESIGNATED CONSTRUCTION PHASES. WHERE PARTIAL REMOVAL OF ORCONNECTION TO ACTIVE SYSTEMS IS REQUIRED, COORDINATE PERIODS OF TEMPORARY SHUTDOWNWITH THE OWNER OR ARCHITECT.
4. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL CUTTING AND PATCHING OF EXISTING FLOORS, CEILINGS, WALLS, ANDROOFS AS NEEDED TO PERFORM MECHANICAL DEMOLITION WORK, INCLUDING TEMPORARY REMOVALAND REINSTALLATION OF CEILINGS, SHALL BE PERFORMED BY THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR. 5. PROVIDE TEMPORARY PROTECTION OF EXISTING FIRE PROTECTION DEVICES IN AREAS WHEREDEMOLITION WORK WILL BE PERFORMED. COORDINATE TEMPORARY PROTECTION AND SHUTDOWN OFFIRE ALARM SYSTEMS WITH THE OWNER.
6. IN LOCATIONS WHERE THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR IS THE SOLE CONTRACTOR PERFORMINGDEMOLITION WORK, INCLUDING CUTTING OF EXISTING FLOORS, WALLS, CEILINGS, AND ROOF FOR WORKRELATED TO THE INSTALLATION OF NEW HVAC WORK, PROVIDE TEMPORARY DUST CONTROL BARRIERSAND EXHAUST FANS TO MAINTAIN A NEGATIVE SPACE PRESSURE IN THE AREA OF WORK.

C. VISIT TO THE SITE
1. WHERE NEW WORK IS PROPOSED WITHIN OR ADJACENT TO EXISTING BUILDINGS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE SITE PRIOR TOSUBMITTING HIS BID AND SHALL EXAMINE ALL CONDITIONS AFFECTING THE INSTALLATION OF THE PROPOSED WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALLINCLUDE IN HIS BID ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS REQUIRED TO COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS WITH EXISTING CONDITIONSAND THE WORK OF OTHER TRADES.
D. CODES, PERMITS, STANDARDS, AND REGULATIONS
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL, TEST, AND OPERATE MECHANICAL SYSTEMS IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS, CODES,REGULATIONS, AND ORDINANCES OF THE MUNICIPAL, COUNTY, STATE, FEDERAL, PUBLIC UTILITIES, AND ALL OTHER AUTHORITIES HAVINGJURISDICTION.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY ALL PERMITS, INSPECTION FEES, AND ALL LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL TAXES, AND UTILITY SERVICE CHARGES.
3. OSHA REGULATIONS: ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE OSHA REGULATIONS. THECONSTRUCTION OF LADDERS, SERVICE PLATFORMS, AND WALKWAYS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA STANDARDS.
4. ALL WORK SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENTLY RECOGNIZED INDUSTRY STANDARDS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: ARI,ASHRAE, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, SMACNA, NFPA, UL.
E. WARRANTY
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A ONE (1) YEAR WARRANTY, FROM THE DATE OF FINAL COMPLETION AND ACCEPTANCE BY THE OWNER, FORTHE INSTALLATION OF HVAC SYSTEMS INCLUDING ALL EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, WORKMANSHIP, AND LABOR.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RESPOND TO ALL SERVICE CALLS FROM THE OWNER THROUGHOUT THE WARRANTY PERIOD TO ADDRESSTEMPERATURE, DRAFT, NOISE, LEAKS, AND OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS ATTRIBUTABLE TO MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT OR AUTOMATICCONTROLS.
F. SHOP DRAWINGS
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS (IN ELECTRONIC COPY) OF ALL EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO BE FURNISHED ANDINSTALLED BY THIS CONTRACT.
2. PRIOR TO SUBMITTING COPIES TO THE ENGINEER, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW ALL SUBMITTALS AND SHALL CLEARLY IDENTIFY ALLDEVIATIONS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CHANGES IN WEIGHTS, PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS, SERVICE CLEARANCES, CAPACITIES, EFFICIENCIES,ELECTRIC POWER AND CIRCUITING REQUIREMENTS, NATURAL GAS LOADS AND SERVICE PRESSURES, AND SIMILAR CHARACTERISTICS.
3. THE CONTRACTOR MAY PROPOSE PRODUCT OR EQUIPMENT SUBSTITUTIONS FOR PRODUCTS SIMILAR IN TYPE, CAPACITY, OR PERFORMANCETO THOSE SPECIFIED. THE ENGINEER SHALL BE THE SOLE JUDGE OF THE QUALITY AND ACCEPTABILITY OF PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENTINTENDED FOR THIS PROJECT. THE ENGINEER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR CONDEMN ANY PRODUCTS, EQUIPMENT, AND MATERIALSTHAT ARE DETERMINED TO BE EQUIVALENT IN QUALITY OR PERFORMANCE TO THE SPECIFIED PRODUCT REGARDLESS OF EXTENT OF THEIRDELIVERY, INSTALLATION, OR COMPLETION. THE ENGINEER MAY REJECT SUBSTITUTIONS SHOULD INSUFFICIENT TIME BE AVAILABLE TOPROPERLY EVALUATE PROPOSED SUBSTITUTIONS.
4. THE ENGINEER MAY REJECT ANY AND ALL SHOP DRAWINGS THAT DO NOT COMPLY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RE-SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS ASOFTEN AS NECESSARY TO OBTAIN ACCEPTANCE WITHOUT ADDITIONAL COST OR DELAY.
G. STORAGE
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE STORAGE OF MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT ON SITE WITH THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER OROWNER AS APPLICABLE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT ALL MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, AND PRODUCTS FROM DAMAGE DURINGCONSTRUCTION AND FROM DAMAGE RESULTING FROM THEFT, VANDALISM, AND WEATHER.
H. CLEAN-UP
1. UPON COMPLETION OF INSTALLATION OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS THOROUGHLY CLEAN ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT. THOROUGHLY CLEANEXISTING SURFACES TO REMOVE DUST AND DEBRIS. REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF ALL CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS FROM THE SITE.
I. TESTS AND START-UP
1. PROVIDE TESTING AND START-UP IN ACCORDANCE WITH MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S REQUIREMENTS.
J. OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 3 BOUND VOLUMES OF OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDING MANUFACTURERSCATALOGS, PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS, WARRANTIES, AND PARTS LISTS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT PROVIDED UNDER THIS CONTRACT.
2. PROVIDE DEMONSTRATION AND TRAINING TO THE OWNER'S DESIGNATED SERVICE PERSONNEL ON THE BASIC OPERATION, CARE, ANDMAINTENANCE OF MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROLS.
3. PROVIDE TRAINING ON BASIC HVAC EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS.
2.0 BASIC MATERIALS
A. FIRE RESISTANT CONSTRUCTION

1. PROVIDE MISCELLANEOUS METALS AND MATERIALS FOR EQUIPMENT, PIPING, AND DUCT SUPPORTS AS PRODUCED BY B-LINE, UNI-STRUT, OREQUAL. MISCELLANEOUS STEEL PLATES, CHANNELS, ANGLES, TEES, RODS SHALL BE ASTM GRADE A36 STEEL. BOLTS SHALL BE ASTM GRADE A.
C. MECHANICAL IDENTIFICATION
1. PROVIDE PIPE AND EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION PRODUCTS AS PRODUCED BY SETON OR EQUAL AND APPLIED AS FOLLOWS:

B. DUCT MATERIALS
1. SUPPLY AIR, RETURN AIR, OUTSIDE AIR, RELIEF AIR, AND NON-HAZARDOUS EXHAUST SYSTEM DUCTWORK SHALL BE FABRICATED FROMGALVANIZED SHEET STEEL COMPLYING WITH ASTM A653 WITH A G90 GALVANIZED COATING. DUCTWORK TO BE EXPOSED TO VIEW IN FINISHEDSPACES SHALL HAVE A MILL PHOSPHATIZED FINISH AND READY FOR PRIMER AND PAINT.
2. ROUND FLEXIBLE DUCT SHALL BE UL 181, CLASS 1, CONSTRUCTED WITH BLACK POLYMER FILM, HELICALLY WOUND SPRING-STEELREINFORCEMENT, 1” THICK GLASS FIBROUS INSULATION, POLYETHYLENE OR ALUMINIZED VAPOR BARRIER, AND RATED FOR 10 INCH WGPOSITIVE PRESSURE AND 1 INCH NEGATIVE PRESSURE.
C. DUCT ACCESSORIES
1. VOLUME DAMPERS: VOLUME DAMPERS SHALL BE OF STEEL CONSTRUCTION, RECTANGULAR MULTIPLE OPPOSED-BLADE OR ROUND SINGLEBLADE, WITH NON-FERROUS BEARINGS, AND EQUIPPED WITH EXTERNAL HANDLES WITH LOCKING QUADRANTS.
2. TURNING VANES SHALL BE SINGLE THICKNESS FOR DUCTS WIDTHS BETWEEN 12” AND 24” AND DOUBLE THICKNESS FOR DUCTS GREATER THAN24”.
3. DUCT ACCESS DOORS, DUCT SUPPORTS, AND MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SMACNA STANDARDS. DUCTSEALANTS SHALL BE UL LISTED.
4.0 INSULATION
A. DUCT INSULATION: DUCT INSULATION SHALL BE MINERAL FIBER TYPE III WITH FSK JACKET AND COMPLYING WITH ASTM C533 AND C1290. INSULATION SHALL BE PRODUCED BY CERTAIN TEED, JOHNS MANVILLE, KNAUF, OR OWENS CORNING.
1. ALL SUPPLY AIR DUCTWORK CONCEALED ABOVE CEILINGS SHALL BE EXTERNALLY WRAPPED WITH 2" THICK FLEXIBLE DUCT INSULATION
6.0 HVAC EQUIPMENT
A. GENERAL
1. HVAC EQUIPMENT SHALL BE OF THE CAPACITY, PERFORMANCE, AND EFFICIENCY AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. UNITS SHALL BE UL LISTED,RATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE INDUSTRY STANDARDS, AND SHALL BE COMPLETELY FACTORY ASSEMBLED AND WIRED. HVACEQUIPMENT SHALL MEET OR EXCEED ASHRAE STADNDARD 90.1
2. EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS AND ACCESSORIES FOR A COMPLETE INSTALLATION INCLUDINGBUT NOT LIMITED TO ROOF CURBS, VIBRATION ISOLATORS, AND SAFETY DISCONNECT SWITCHES.
7.0 AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROLS
A. GENERAL
1. OBTAIN THE SERVICES OF BRADLEY SCIOCCETTI TO ALTER AND EXTEND THE EXISTING AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM AS INDICATEDON THE DRAWINGS.
2. INSTALL ALL WIRING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE. ALL CONTROL WIRING SHALL BE PLENUM RATED AND UL LISTED.PROVIDE POWER WIRING TO LINE VOLTAGE DEVICES, CONTROL PANELS, AND LOW VOLTAGE CONTROL-CIRCUIT TRANSFORMERS. COORDINATETHE LOCATION AND SOURCE OF ATC POWER WITH THE PROJECT ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.
8.0 TEST, ADJUST, BALANCE
1. PRIOR TO STARTING EQUIPMENT, CHECK ALL MOTORS, ACTUATORS, CONTROLS, AND WIRING ARE PROPERLY INSTALLED. LEAK TEST ALLPIPING SYSTEMS PRIOR TO START-UP.
2. OBTAIN THE SERVICES OF A CERTIFIED TESTING AND BALANCING CONTRACTOR. TAB CONTRACTOR SHALL BE CERTIFIED BY NEEB OR AABC.
3. ADJUST AND BALANCE FANS AND DAMPERS TO ACHIEVE FLOW RATES AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
4. ADJUST AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROLS TO ACHIEVE SATISFACTORY TEMPERATURE CONTROL.
5. SUBMIT TESTING AND BALANCING REPORTS INDICATING THE NAME OF THE TAB CONTRACTOR, TYPES OF BALANCING EQUIPMENT UTILIZED,EQUIPMENT NAMEPLATE DATA, DESIGN VS. ACTUAL FLOW TABULATIONS, FAN AND PUMP OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS, AND MOTOR SPEED,VOLTAGE, AND AMPERAGE RECORDINGS.
6. IDENTIFY AND REPORT DEFICIENCIES SUCH AS: EXCESSIVE AIR LEAKAGE, INSUFFICIENT AIR FLOW, INSUFFICIENT PRESSURE, MOTOR OVERLOADCONDITIONS, NOISE, OR EXCESSIVE VIBRATION.
