How to paste a picture into a post or page in WordPress

Insert your cursor where you want your picture to go

Click on the Add Media button

You now have the choice of uploading a new image into your post, or selecting one you’ve already uploaded before, which will be laid out in the Library below.

If you want to upload an image from your computer, click on the ‘Upload Files’ link.

Now you can click on the ‘Select Files’ button to search your computer for the correct image, or if you already have it on your desktop, just drag it onto this space.

Choose the file you want

And it will be uploaded into your image library.

And on the right of the Library there is a lot of information about the image you’ve just uploaded, that you need to check before you post it.

This is the title of your image. It will show up as a tag when you mouse over the published image.

Here you write the caption to your image, which will appear underneath it.

It’s important to add a descriptive Alt Text to your picture.

This is not only so that the search engines can read and index it, but also partially sighted web users who have applications that allow their computers to read to them.

Here you can set the alignment of your picture against the text.

Here is the image’s own URL or web address.

This can be used in text or image widgets in the sidebar.

Here you can choose to post your image in its full size or as a thumbnail (150 x 150).

When you’re absolutely ready, click on the ‘Insert into post’ button.

And here is your image in your content ‘field’ of your post or page.
