Your Prospects Just IncreasedAPIC’s new Infection Prevention Academy has expanded course offerings

number of infection preventionists outside of APIC’s Annual Conference.
You’ll now have the opportunity to be part of a small and select group to
reach nearly 1000 learners over the course of six days. On each of those days,

Hall is strategically placed in high traffic areas to generate substantial traffic
for your booth.
Sponsorships demonstrate your commitment to and support of APIC’s

About the Academy Classes and WorkshopsAPIC’s Infection Prevention Academy houses APIC’s signature training courses, Essentials of Infection Prevention (EPI) and Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery (ASC), as well as a new selection of intensive one-day workshops.
Offered twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, the Academy provides learners a variety of class choices for all levels on the APIC competency model. Attendees have a unique opportunity to interact with hundreds of other infection preventionists, view the products offered by a large number of exhibitors, participate in product and association-specific focus groups, and attend networking events such as evening receptions.
Education for the Prevention of Infection (EPI®) 101
This novice level course introduces the various roles and responsibilities of the infection preventionist and presents content that maps to the first two stages of the Novice Roadmap. Areas of emphasis include: how to prepare surveillance and risk assessment plans; regulatory compliance; preventing transmission of infectious diseases; and how to handle employee exposures.
Education for the Prevention of Infection (EPI®) 102
This novice level course builds on the concepts and principles introduced in EPI 101® and maps to the third and fourth stages of the Novice Roadmap. Topics include: the infection preventionist’s role in construction and renovation; instrument cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization; and managing the infection prevention program.
Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers 101
This class provides healthcare professionals working in ambulatory care settings with tools to develop and maintain an effective infection prevention program that both protects patients and complies with accrediting and regulatory requirements, such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) conditions for coverage. It promotes evidence-based practices that can be used to reduce the risk of infection and provide a safer environment for patients. Attendees from all ambulatory surgery settings are encouraged to attend.
Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers 102 NEW CLASS FOR FALL 2015
This class builds on the concepts and principles contained in the ASC 101 class and includes topics such as: building an infection control program, reporting conditions in NHSN, and diseases of special interest in the ambulatory care arena. As with the first class, instructors emphasize evidence-based practices that help ensure patient safety.
Advanced Practice Workshop
This workshop is designed to improve IP competencies in key areas crucial for leading an infection prevention program within today’s complex healthcare environment. By refining leadership, financial management, process improvement, and consensus-building skills, IPs will better be able to align infection prevention efforts across patient safety, quality, and risk management.
Project Management — NEW FOR 2015
Participants will learn the ingredients that comprise a robust Infection Prevention and Control Program and strengthen the skills needed to make their program more effective. By improving their abilities to analyze, prioritize, and implement programs designed to mitigate patient harm, IPs will be better prepared to navigate an ever-changing healthcare environment.
Construction and Renovation NEW CLASS FOR FALL 2015
A practical application of the concepts introduced in the APIC publication The Construction and Renovation Toolkit for Professionals in Infection Prevention and Control, this course was developed to assist healthcare professionals in creating a comprehensive infection control program during construction. The material is appropriate for novice and experienced IPs and applies to facilities of different sizes and different patient populations.

“On behalf of the ASC project team, I wanted to send a big thank you for the wonderful collaboration at the ASC conditions for coverage meeting in Florida. That was such a successful and dynamic event. To meet directly with the ASCs and have that level of project reach was outstanding. I am thrilled to say that we had an uptick of centers that immediately enrolled in the safety program after the event. I look forward to our next collaboration of this nature next spring.”
