General DescriptionFLEXWELL-LPG®PipingissuitableforautomotiveLPG(Autogas)buriedinstallationsofservicestationsinbothvapourandliquidphase.

LPG’smainconstituentsarePropane(C3H8)andButane(C4H10)whichhavedifferentboilingpoints:–45°Cforpropaneand–2°Cforbuta-ne.TheactualmixtureofpropaneandbutaneofanyautomotiveLPGmarketedvariesconsiderablyfromonecountrytoanother,dependingontheirsourcesofLPG.ThemixofpropaneandbutanehasaprofoundimpactondesignrequirementsofLPGfuellingcomponents;theoneforapropaneonlymixbeingthemoststringent.Caremustbeexercisedintheselectionoftheminimaldesignrequirementsastheequipmentmayturntobecomeunsuitable,iftheLPGmarketedinacountryisbeingchangedtopropanerichermixturesinviewofchangingnationalsourcesofLPG.

FLEXWELL-LPG®Pipingisdesignedforoperatingtemperaturesupto–50°CandoperatingpressuresofPN25(360PSI)asindicatedforpropaneonlymixtures.

ApplicationFLEXWELL-LPG®isasinglewalledflexiblepipesystemdesignedfortheundergroundtransportofLPG.TypicallyFLEXWELL-LPG®PipingisusedasanundergroundliquidfeedlineandvapourreturnbetweentheLPGstoragetanksandtheliquidgasdispenserinfuellingstations.

ConstructionTheflexiblecompositepipehasahelicallycorrugatedprimarypipe.ThisismanufacturedofEN1.4404stainlesssteel(USequivalent:AISITP316L)andhasexcellentcorrosionresistancecharacteristicsasaresult.Aroundthiscarrierpipe,high-strengthreinforcingbandsarefitted,whicheffectivelylimitlongitudinalexpansionevenathighoperatingpressures.CorrosionprotectionforburiedinstallationinthegroundisaffordedbyanexternalPE-LDjacket.

Installation FLEXWELL-LPG®Pipingismanufacturedinstandardfactorylengthsupto700m.Thepipeworkissuppliedonacablereelorcoilallowingittoberundirectlyoffthereelorcoilintopositioninthepipetrench.Thecorrugatedprimarypipeandthehelicallyfittedreinforcingbandsgivethispipingsystemremarkablygoodflexibilityandeaseoflaying.FLEXWELL-LPG®pipeworkcanbecuttotherequiredlengthonsiteand,asnecessary,bentthroughverytightanglestorunaround,underoroverexistingservices.
