I am going on a trip to Bristol Zoo Gardens

with my school.

At the Zoo I will see animals, gardens, people and buildings.

I will arrive at the Zoo by coach, bus or minibus.

When I arrive at the Zoo I will see the entrance.

• I may have to wait in a queue before meeting the admission staff.

• I may have to wait with my teacher and people from my school.

• There might be people I don’t know also waiting.

• After exiting the admission area, I will see the flamingos and a wide path going through the Zoo.

• There could be other visitors walking around here as well.

• Some of the enclosures are inside and warm.

• Some of the exhibits are outside.

• Twilight World is very dark and it might take my eyes time to adjust.

• My teacher will guide me through Twilight World.

• I will see lots of animals at the Zoo.

• Seal and Penguin Coasts has a tunnel underground where I can view the animals.

• In some enclosures I’ll be able to walk beside animals.

• I must not touch the animals.

• The animals could bite me if I try to touch them.

• Zoo staff will be there too if I have any questions.

• The animals might make noises.

• There might be unusual smells.

• The Bristol Zoo Staff are very friendly in case I need to ask them anything and they wear zoo uniform with this logo on it.

• The restaurant is called ‘The Hide’.

• The food hut is called ‘The Hungry Monkey’.

• The play area has lots of fun things to play on, and sand and bark underfoot.

• I will see many plants, trees and flowers in the gardens at the Zoo.

• There is also a lake with lots of ducks and fish.

• If I need help I can go to reception.

• If I hurt myself I can go to the First Aid room.

• There are lots of toilets around the site.

• These are marked on the map.

• There will be busy areas but there are lots of quiet areas to go to.

• I will eat lunch with my teacher and friends in one of the picnic areas.

• This could be undercover or outside.

• A member of the Learning Team will help me to learn about the animals.

• My teacher and helpers will always be with me.

• There will be live animals in the classroom.

• When it is time to go home, I will go back to the exit with my group and we will leave through the gift shop.

We hope that you enjoy your trip to

the Zoo.
