According to a recent survey by the Nielsen Company, about 34% of all the goods sales that were done
in 2012 were as a result of Social media marketing. As a business owner, this should tell you that the
world of advertising has changed; and that the people who will ignore social media marketing will have a
hefty price to pay when it comes to selling their business. The most commonly trafficked social media
sites include:
• Google+
Very few inventions of technology have ever taken the world by storm like Facebook did. Currently, the
social media site has millions of followers from the world over. This is an indication that if a marketer

are several ways in which you can do Facebook advertising:

friends in the posts. Another great way of popularizing a Facebook page is doing promos with other

page. After you have done the posting you can proceed to tag friends and have them also like the page.
Using twitter to advertise
This micro-blogging site has been gaining a lot of popularity since it was launched in 2006. The main way
you can use twitter to sell your business is by creating a page. After you have created the page you can
start posting updates that are usually not more than 140 characters in length. These are called tweets.
Tweeting works in the following ways.
• Tell friends or followers to re-tweet your tweets. This way, their followers are able to see your content
and follow you.
• Following pages that have similar content with yours. This way, people that have followed those pages
will be able to view your page and follow it.
Once you have a following it is very easy to find out what your customers think about the products that
you have to offer. Customers will always tweet about products that they like. They will also tweet about
those they dislike. Take this as a market analysis and improve your products.
Google+ and Pinterest
With less than two years in the market, these two sites have also gathered quite a following. Pinterest is
like a board where you are allowed to pin about anything that you want to. If for instance you are a car
dealer, you can pin content about cars and how to handle them and so on. It is also possible to connect
pinterest to Facebook such that whatever you pin will be visible on Facebook.
Google plus is more like a blog. You set up an account and invite people to join you. You are allowed to
post pictures that tell what your page is all about. For instance, if you are wedding planner, you can have
a page that with pictures of all the weddings you have planned successfully. As you continue posting and
gathering a following, your business will grow.
Those are a few tips on how to market your business through social media networks. If you come up
with a strategy that helps you advertise on all of them, you will have better results than when you
