EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) augments the GPS L1 civilian signal by providing corrections information for both GPS space vehicles (Ephemeris, Clock) and ionosphere.

ESSP is a key actor within EGNOS because it:

• delivers, operates and maintains EGNOS augmentation services

• promotes EGNOS and its applications

• supports and interfaces with users

• monitors & analyses EGNOS performance

• supports in the development of EGNOS-based applications

• A GPS/SBAS receiver is a GPS receiver enhanced with special software enabling the receiver to lock onto the EGNOS satellites and apply the EGNOS corrections to the GPS signal.

• A NTRIP receiver; DGNSS and/or RTK receiver enhanced with special software enabling the receiver to retrieve GNSS data streams transmitted through the Ntrip protocol over the internet and apply a series of corrections to the GPS signal.
