Why do we need to check blood sugar?

To know your blood sugar level (too low or too high)

Steps on checking your blood sugar

1. Wash your hands

2. Insert test strip into the meter

3. Use lancet on the side of your finger to get a drop of blood

4. Touch the test strip to the drop of blood and wait for the result

5. Keep a record of your blood sugar Levels

Before a meal (80–130 mg/dl)

1-2 hours after beginning of the meal (Less than 180 mg/dl) (ADA, 2016)
