A digitally connected and digitally inclusive city, where everyone, regardless of zip code, has access to affordable and reliable high-speed internet.

Mission

To provide every resident in Denver’s subsidized housing communities access to reliable and affordable high-speed broadband, quality digital devices, and the training and applications necessary to fully utilize both.

Mission

8 West Denver Public Housing Properties in West Denver with a total of 1,152 units and more than 2,900 residents

Initial Goal: connect 30% of unconnected households in target properties and provide access to technology training to all households HUD Survey in March-April 2016 indicated 58% of

households with high-speed Internet subscription

Outreach Activities Brochures/Posters in Community Centers and Manager Offices Direct mailings to residents “Digital Inclusion Guide” distributed to staff quarterly Included in HCV (“Section 8”) Recertification Packets Information included in Annual Section 8 Survey “Movie Night” for Youth Comcast Cares Day Site

• Comcast “Technology Hubs” – Comcast WiFi networks at five DHA Opportunity Centers and Quigg Newton Community Center (6 sites)

2017 Digital Readiness and DevCamp Classes

Mission

Classes provided at “Technology Hubs” Digital Readiness Classes

Five weekly classes with goals to: Type 20+ wpm; use gmail and Google Drive effectively; and start using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Prepares students for the Academies to Work Microsoft Office Specialist program.

DevCamp/Coding in partnership with Denver Public Library Website Development Camp (for youth ages 12-18) DHA youth coding languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;

make a website; and work with professional developers. Looking for program partners to provide additional classes!!!
