Watson history and 50th anniversary
Summernats update In 1960, the suburb of Watson was proclaimed, it
was settled between 1961 (when the first houses were completed) Rosary Primary opened in 1963, Majura primary school opened in 1964. Barry Price is preparing a history of Watson in association with its Golden Jubilee set for celebration in 2013. He would like to hear from original residents who are willing to share their memories. The WCA will be organising several events for the 2013 Jubilee.
Summernats has been running since the 1990s. Page 3 has more information about changes for the upcoming 2013 event, and how to file a complain if you have one. There is a survey in this edition for you to fill out after the event concludes on January 6. The WCA committee wishes all Watson resi-dents a safe and happy summer holiday sea-son.
If you can add to this local history with your stories & recollections, call Barry
now on 6241 1130.

Xmas New Year Holiday Alert
Summernats aims at Guinness Book of Records for
Burnouts
At the Summernats event to be held at Epic from 3-6 January 2013, the or-ganizers are aiming to establish a record for :-
the largest number of cars performing a ‘burn-out’, simultaneously.
This news prompts a timely reminder for those who are adversely affected by noise and pollutants generated by this event to address any complaints directly to Canberra Connect on 132281. Your concerns will be registered and dealt with promptly.
On the upside, Summernats organizers have moved the burn-out track
200m back from the present position, arranged for 2 after concert parties to
be held in indoor venues on the site, and removed the strip show from the
program. McDonalds will be employing extra staff to ensure that litter is
picked up promptly from both sides of the highway.
The Watson Community Association will be conducting a survey on Sum-
mernats in the New Year so we ask that you note any impressions so you
can record it in the survey.
