Hollywood Film/TV Industry Program
INTRODUCTION
PROGRAM INFORMATION OCTOBER 23-26 – LOS ANGELES
From October 23 to 26, 2018, a group of 25 filmmakers and film/tv industry professionals from around the world will participate in the Hollywood Film/TV Industry Program. Participants will experience an “inside track” into the business, legal, commercial, marketing, artistic, academic and new media aspects of the Hollywood audiovisual industry with a four-day intensive schedule of meetings, presentations, panels and other industry activities in the Los Angeles area.
Producers, film executives and screenwriters are welcome to participate with or without film projects. During the intensive program, participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions and discuss their projects with US-based producers, talent agents, sales agents, studio executives and distributors, generating real possibilities for development, financing, distribution and co-production.
Participants will also be provided with an exclusive insider’s tour and access to selected entities and events in the Los Angeles area, the strategic global marketplace for films. Some of the industry functions included are briefing sessions by film executives, a leading talent agency, a talent manager, a studio, as well as independent production companies, entertainment attorney, distributor, sales agent, and finally a “pitching” training session.
The Hollywood Film/TV Industry Program, along with its partners - Hollywood production companies, major studios, talent agencies and other notable representatives of our film/tv community - combined our efforts to develop a unique itinerary for the program participants.
The Program’s objective is to advance the presence of worldwide independent talent and audiovisual content in the US and global markets. The Program allows an overview of how Hollywood works and creates opportunities for international talent representation in the English language film/tv markets. It also promotes coproductions, and creates new inroads and work opportunities for participants.

Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ
1) What is the main objective of the Hollywood Film/TV Industry Program? The program is designed to offer an “insider track” into the US audiovisual industry
through an intensive schedule of meetings with executives and entertainment lawyers,
consultants of the independent film industry market and top talent agency executives,
presentations, round tables and social meetings.
2) If I intend to present or pitch a film project, will I need to bring a complete script?
There is no need to bring a complete script. Participants in the Program may bring a film
concept or an existing project.
3) Will I be able to give a script or other materials to program speakers?
There may not be an opportunity to hand out your own project materials since it is film
industry practice not to accept unsolicited materials. However, should a speaker or
executive show interest in your project, it may be translated and presented at a later date.
4) How many opportunities will I have to pitch my project?
There is only one Program pitching panel. However, during the course of the Program, or
as a consequence of the Program, you may arrange for future meetings on your own and
pitch to as many companies as you can.
5) How long should my pitch take?
Pitching should be 10 minutes or less. The exact time will be determined by the panel.
6) Will I need a PowerPoint for pitching? Can I use other materials?
There is no power point for pitching. You can bring some materials but none are required.
The panel may ask for an oral presentation only with no visuals or additional materials. If
you rely on your materials and the panel requests an oral presentation only, you
should be prepared.
7) Will I be able to sell my project during this Program?
In previous Programs, some of the projects have gone on to close deals eventually. Your
success will depend on the stage of your project and its appeal. However, since our goal
is to equip you with the knowledge and tools to present your project in the future, it is not
likely that deals are closed during this week. If you encounter commercial interest in your
project, all negotiations and contractual issues should be handled privately. We offer
various consulting services for those who want us to facilitate their endeavors with their
projects and can have a separate conversation about additional services.

8) When will I receive the final Program meeting schedule?
The final schedule is expected to be available approximately two weeks prior to the
Program. It will be sent to all participations via email. However, because our speakers
are all active working professionals, there may be changes at the last minute. An
indication of the type of speakers or companies is found in the list of documents provided.
9) Does the Program provide additional information and orientation?
All participants are requested to attend the Welcome Reception and Dinner beginning at
18:30 on October 23. At that time, there will be a full review of the schedule and
activities as well as distribution of the Program Handbook with Rules, Regulations and
other useful information. It is also a chance to meet each other and interact with other
participants. Since working within the group has proven successful in the past, it is highly
encouraged that you do not miss this opportunity.
10) Who can I contact with additional questions about the meeting schedule?
Contact Marcelo Floriao, Director of the HFI Program in Los Angeles, about additional
information on the meeting schedule mfloriao.hfip@gmail.com.
