Day 1: AIRPORT – KANDY (4hrs drive)
Srilanka
Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), a tiny island nation south of India in the Indian Ocean, is a rugged land of rainforest, diverse wildlife
and endless beaches. It’s famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and
frescoes, and the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Its flavorful cuisine reflects its history as a maritime hub and cultural melting pot.
Kandy
literally the "City on the Hills" so named as it was protected by the nature - water , rocks and jungles. The last capital of the Sri
Lankan kings before falling to the British in 1815AD which is a World Heritage Site. The name Kandy conjures vision of
splendour of magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. The centre of attraction is
the golden roofed Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha .The Kandy Lake built by the last King Sri Wickramarajasinghe in
1806 holds a prominent view of the City. It is a City for arts and crafts as well culture and history.

After visiting the Elephant orphanage proceed to Kandy and check in to Hotel

The Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage:
Established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their
grandchildren born in the same location. The original objective of establishing the orphanage inclined more towards tourism,
but is soon became conservation and educational centre. With the help of local and foreign elephant experts, Pinnawela started
a scientific captive-breeding programme for elephants.The free movement of the herd enhanced the chances for respective
individuals of both sexes to get together and mate. The nearby river played a dominant role in this regard, and in 1984, the first
baby of Pinnawela was born.

Kandy City Tour: Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site. The name “Kandy” conjures
visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the
Kandy lake built by the last Sinhala king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts
centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Thereafter witness a cultural show.
Royal Botanical Gardens: This botanical garden was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the
British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

Day 2: KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA (2 hrs drive)
Nuwara Eliya, Because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lankas tea country producing a significant share of the worlds best tea. Sri Lanka s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia.

Sita Amman & Anjaneya Temple
The Sita Amman Temple can be seen on route to Hakgala along the Nuwara Eliya Badulla Road. The prominent temple
architecture will not fail to attract your attention on the way to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens from Nuwara Eliya. According to
tradition, the site is associated with Sita of the Ramayana epic. Ancient statues of Rama and Sita can be seen on a side of the
temple. The temple seen today is a modern building with its paintings, statues and pillars decorated with sculptures, all
depicting the tale of Rama and Sita. The rear of the temple overlooks a stream, while from its front can be seen the Hakgala
peaks.
Pussellawa is the Home of 18 feet statue of Anjaneear, The famous temple situated on a hill overlooking the Kotmale reservoir
area, Anjaneear at this temple Thousand’s of devotees from India & Sri Lanka pay homage.

Gregory Lake
Gregory Lake was build under the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873.
This is the most prominent attraction in Nuwara Eliya and all the vistors used to come
here and spent some time by the lake and relax. This was used as a place for water
sports and for re-recreational activities during the British time. Graory lake gets crowded
during the April tourist season.

Botanical Garden
Botanical Gardens Hakgala is situated on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla main road, 16 km
from Nuwara Eliya. It was established in 1861 for the purpose of experimentation and
promotion of Cinchona cultivation in Sri Lanka. Once after the Tea replace the
Cinchona, it was turned into an experimental Tea cultivation. In 1884 it transformed to
a garden since then many sub tropical and some temperate plants were planted in the
gardens. Now the garden is famous for number of species of Orchids and Roses.
Ambewela Farms
Ambewela is a small town or a hill station in Nuwera Eliya. It’s also a
well-known dairy company. The climatic conditions in Ambewela
make it a suitable location for dairy farming. This area is also
sometimes called the ‘Little New Zealand’. Ambewela farms are made
up of two farms, Ambewela Farm and New Zealand Farm. Because of
the perfect climate in the hill country, it boasts its superior breed of
cattle, modern technology and top quality pastures where cattle
graze freely. The farms have purebred cattle from Ayreshire and New
Zealand. In order to maintain the quality of milk from the cows, the
farm management takes great care to provide them with a balanced
diet and sterilized water. They are also given excellent healthcare on
a 24-hour basis. The largest grasslands of Sri Lanka are also a part of the Ambewela farms. In addition to the cattle, it has
rabbits, pigs and goats. Around mid-day is a good time to visit the farms. You will first pass the scenic grasslands with the cows
from New Zealand grazing freely. It’s a beautiful sight. However, the stench can sometimes be very strong, especially in the
barns where the cattle are bred.
Day 3: NUWARA ELIYA

Bentota Bentota is everything a tropical paradise should be – miles of golden, palm – fringed beaches, lapped by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. The township offers visitors an opportunity to explore Sri Lanka’s natural, cultural and historical riches at their own pace.

DAY 5: BENTOTA – COLOMBO (5 hrs drive)

Colombo the capital of Sri Lanka-is the largest city and main port of Sri Lanka. It is also the commercial and financial centre of
Sri Lanka.

Colombo Sightseeing
The Fort - Originally a fort during the Portuguese and Dutch periods but now a major
commercial center of the country and housing major offices, big hotels, some of the
better shops, airline offices, banks, main post office, immigration office, travel agents and
restaurants. Within Fort are several places of tourist interest, which can be conveniently
seen on foot
Pettah - Adjacent to Fort is Pettah-Colombo's leading bazaar district. It has narrow
cobbled streets lined with shops and street stalls that offer the most fantastic bargains
and the most unimaginable range of goods varying from bright printed fabrics, suitings,
undergarments, children wear, footwear and handbags to electrical goods, semi
precious jewellery, watches, rare first edition books, cutlery and other household items.
Each criss-crossed lane of Pettah leads to the main street and each has developed its
own specialized characteristic. For example, household goods are found on Keyzer
Street. Prince Street is famous for glass, mirrors and electrical items. Malwatte Avenue
sells English, Sinhala and Tamil music cassettes

Galle Face Green - A promenade on the sea face stretching one and a half kilometers,
it is a relic of the British era. Laid out in 1859 it was used for horse racing. Today it is
the largest open space in Colombo and a famous picnic spot
Slave Island - On the south of Fort, is a long, narrow island-where the slaves had their
night quarters-called Slave Island. Today the spot is surrounded by the remains of the
former Beira Lake and is home to many office buildings, hotels and stores
Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara - It is a famous Buddhist temple and is believed to be at the
spot where the Buddha preached 2000 years ago. It has an excellent carving of a
reclining Buddha, and is the site for an annual perahera (religious procession) in
January
The Viharamahadevi Park - Located next to the National Museum, it is Colombo's
largest park. The park is famous for its flowering trees, water channels and fountains.
Wolvendaal Church - It is Colombo's oldest Dutch church. Its floor tiles are made from
tombstones from the Dutch church in the Fort, and were brought here in 1813.

Hindu Temples - There are several Hindu temples, which are called Kovils in Colombo.
In the Sea Street in Colombo are several Hindu temples, the Ganeshan, the Old
Kathiresan and the New Kathiresan with their colourful Gopurams (doorways). Other
important temples are the Shiva Subramania Swami temple on Slave Island and the Sri
Muthumariamman temple.
DAY 6: COLOMBO – AIRPORT
