COURSESDrawing 101 (2D)July 8–12, 9am-12pm (Art 463)Drawing is a language that can transform a blank page into a new world. Drawing is also a skill that helps us express our imaginations, develop our ideas, and better understand the world around us. Shane Walsh, veteran ArtsECO Pre-College instructor and accomplished artist, will help students move from observation and imagination to highly developed drawings and a strong artistic voice.
Sculptural Forms (3D)July 15–19, 9am-12pm (Art B87)Kathryn E. Martin-Meurer, public artist, sculptor and Peck School of the Arts instructor leads a week long class, adventure, experience (all of the three?) working with a variety of materials and processes all related to making 3D forms. This materials-rich course will work between 2D and 3D space, from drawing ideas to visualizing them in clay, wire, plaster and other materials. No prior experience needed to take on this 3D exploration.
PhotographyJuly 22–26, 9am-12pm (MIT TBD)Peck instructor Kayla Massey will lead students on a dynamic exploration of the image-rich world around us. Students will consider the history of the photographed image, explore contemporary photography and apply what they are learning through hands-on work with the camera. Students will be exposed to traditional photo equipment and digital technologies and will have final projects printed for display.
WORKSHOPS & TRIPS - $5 EACHWorkshops and trips offered on select afternoons from 1–4pm for $5 each and can be attended by any Summer 2019 Pre-College student. See details in Schedule.
