Helping Your Child With GCSE Maths

GCSE Maths is perhaps the most important qualification that you child will achieve.

Not only does it give pupils the knowledge to deal with practical problems in the real world, it is also an important subject when applying for further education and jobs.

As parents I am sure you will push your children to take their GCSE Maths study seriously and try to help them as best you can. However, not everyone has a talent for maths and some parents may not have the mathematical ability to assist their child.Even those that have a decent understanding of maths may find that their child is now being taught in a completely different way than they were.

If either of these situations applies to you or even if you just want to be more involved , then don't worry; there are still ways to help your child with their GCSE Maths study.

Maths Clinics These take place on Tuesday and Thursday after school in the Maths department – anyone is welcome.

New things happening in lessons

Now Year 10 are doing a Linear GCSE course we need to assess them more regularly.As a result we are monitoring progress by using APP resources.Students should be more aware of what they need to do in order to improve.We also do termly tests – either proper mock exam papers or APP tests ( at the end of this term Year 11 have a Unit 3 mock and Year 10 a Unit 2 exam)
