Warranty InformationGefenwarrantstheequipmentitmanufacturestobefreefromdefectsinmaterialandworkmanship.

IfequipmentfailsbecauseofsuchdefectsandGefenisnotifiedwithintwo(2)yearsfromthedateofshipment,Gefenwill,atitsoption,repairorreplacetheequipment,providedthattheequipmenthasnotbeensubjectedtomechanical,electrical,orotherabuseormodifications.Equipmentthatfailsunderconditionsotherthanthosecoveredwillberepairedatthecurrentpriceofpartsandlaborineffectatthetimeofrepair.Suchrepairsarewarrantedforninety(90)daysfromthedayofreshipmenttotheBuyer.

Connecting to a Local Area Network (LAN)

1. ConnectaCAT-5e(orbetter)cablebetweentheLinkjackontheSenderunitandyourLANconnection,viaaswitchorrouter.

2. ConnectanyoneofthethreeEthernetportsontheReceiverunittotheLAN.AlthoughanyoftheEthernetportscanbeused,itisrecommendedtouseEthernetport1forconnectingtheReceiverunittotheLAN,inordertoeasilyidentifythisasthe“LANcable”.

Bydefault,theHDKVMoverIPisshippedinDHCP mode.DHCPmodeshouldworkinmostcases,sincetheSenderandReceiverunitsareassignedanIPaddressbytheDHCPserverorrouter.Afteralltheconnectionshavebeenmade,theHDKVMoverIPwillattempttoestablishaconnectionbetweentheSenderandReceiverunit.Duringthistime,,theLinkLEDonboththeSenderandReceiverunitwillbegintoflashandthemessage“Tryingtofindthegateway”willbedisplayedonthescreen.Onceasuccessfulconnectionisestablished,theLinkLEDontheSenderandReceiverunit(s)willglowbrightgreenandthesourcesignalwillappearonthedisplay.

IfDHCPmodeisnotdesired,theHDKVMoverIPcanalsobesettoAuto IP modeorStatic IP mode. Inordertochangethenetworkoptions,boththeSenderandReceiverunitcontainabuilt-inWebinterface.ChangingthenetworksettingsmayalsobenecessarywhenusingmultipleSenderandReceiverunits.

Accessing the Web Interface

1. ConnectanEthernetcablefromacomputertothenetworkonwhichtheHDKVMoverIPisconnected.

2. IdentifytheIPaddressofboththeSenderandReceiverunit.Thiscanbedonebyviewingthedisplay,duringthelinkingprocess.IftheSenderandReceiverunitsarealreadydisplayingapictureandtheIPaddressesarenotknown,switchthevideochannelontheReceiverunittodisplaytheIPinformation.SeeSettingtheVideoChannelforinformationonhowtoswitchthevideochannel.

3. LaunchaWebbrowserandtypeintheIPaddressoftheSenderunit.

NOTE: WhenconfiguringtheSenderandReceiverunits,thereisnoparticularorderinwhicheachunitneedstobeconfigured.

Configuring Auto IP Mode

AutoIPmodeisusedwhenthereisnoDHCPserver(orrouter)availableandeachSenderandReceiverunitisconnectedtoaswitch.WhensettoAutoIPmode,theSenderandReceiverunitwillself-assignuniqueIPaddresses(withintherangeof169.254.x.x).UsethismodewhentheSenderandReceiverunitaredirectlyconnected.

1. AccesstheWebinterfaceoftheSender(host)unitbyenteringtheIPaddressoftheSenderunitinaWebbrowser.

2. OncetheWebpageisdisplayed,clicktheUtilitiesbartoexpandit.

3. ClicktheConsoleAPICommmandtextbox.

Althoughthismessagewillbepresentedwhenthereisanerrorinthecommandline,itisimportanttounderstandthatthisalsooccursafterthenetworkmodehasbeenchanged.ThisisbecausetheIPaddresshaschangedandtheWebpagecannolongeraccessthecurrentIPaddressoftheSender(orReceiver)unit.

8. Oncetheprocesshascompleted,thenewIPaddresswillappearonthedisplay,asshownbelow:ThenewIPaddressoftheSenderunitisnolongerinthesamesubnetastheReceiverunit.Therefore,theSenderunitwillnotbeabletocommunicatewiththeReceiverunituntiltheReceiverunitisalsosettoAuto IP mode.
