TO THE MEN OF THE 413THFIGHTER GROUP:

This book is dedicated to you - the men, who have made the413th Fighter Group one of the best Fighter Groups in the ArmyAir Corps.

I hope that within these pages, you will find much to recallthe pleasant memories of your stay here.

Although I know many of you personally, unfortunately thereare a few that I do not know. However the record that you havemade here is a fitting testimony to your ability as men and as soldiers to accomplish any task assigned and to do it well.

Since the inception of my command, I have been proud to beyour Commanding Officer. I know, regardless of what obstaclesmay confront you in the future - you will overcome them withthe same tenacity and ability that you have shown throughoutyour training.

II --....._A Day of Reverance

It has been increasingly satisfying for theChaplain to work with the officers-and men ofthe Group. I have felt underneath all the funand frivolity, a healthy seriousness which is bestshown in a high regard for the deeper thingsof life.

As we continue together I am confident thatevery man will prove himself true to the highestideals of our country and of our respective re~gions.

Each man has his own religious at-titude and outlook, but in the workwe do there is a unity of purpose, anda common sharing of responsibilityand danger which puts us all onequal footing and demands real cooperation and brotherliness.

It is the Chaplain's high privilegeto go with the men the whole wayand to help them in any and everyproblem.

In being true to the Great Commander we will best support ourGroup Commander.
