BMS interface of Gree Central AC is only for Gree central AC devices.There is BMS interface or multifunctional gateway in the hardware and standard communication protocol and BMS software plug-in in the software. Gree central AC can be centrally monitored and managed through BMS interface together with other devices in the building.

Optoelectronic Isolated repeater is mainly used to collect increase of communication distance and nodes when the quantity of communication modules is above 30 or communication distance is above 800m.Refer to Project and Installation section for details.
2). Installation Criteria:

1). Function Introduction:
Communication module is used for conversion and transfer of signal of BMS and air conditioner during the communication of them, making the role of communication controller.Refer to User Instruction to Communication Module for details.
2). Installation Criteria of Communication Module:
Ensure the specification of power adapter to avoid malfunction or damage to the communication module.
Ensure unique DIP address of each communication module in the project to avoid malfunction.Ensure communication cable connects with correct COM to avoid malfunction.

The communication modules should be put in centralized control cabinet together to avoid direct sunlight or high temperature and wet environment.
Power transformer specification: input AC200V~50HZ and output DC9V~800mA.
2. Instruction to Application of Software
Remarks: A long distance monitoring system software with BMS protocol could be provided by GREE (optional by user).
1). to check whether the Air conditioners have been connected with the BMS system correctly.
2). for user to control the air conditioners separately in long distance.
Please check “help” document for details information of how to use this software.
Chapter 3 Installation and Selection
1. Notice
The air conditioners could be connected with the BMS system with every different model, or severalmodels together, below wiring diagram shows the connection way of single unit, just for easy drawing.
The address code of the communication modules should not be conflicted in one project.

7. Installation Criteria
7.1 Requirements to Devices
1). Communication Device.
RS232-RS485 optoelectronic isolated converter:An independent device used to convert the signalof BMS COM into RS485 bus signal is provided by Gree.
RS232-RS485 optoelectronic isolated repeater:An independent device used to increase the communication length of RS485 bus and collect the nodes is provided by Gree.
Communication module: Exclusively developed by Gree, it is an independent device for control ofthe communication between air conditioner and BMS. For the same project, the address of each communication module must be unique and cannot be repeated. The addresses of some models of communication modules have been written in the factory, so special software which can be gotfrom our factory must be used to change the address. The addresses of some ones can be set manually according to the instruction.
2). Communication Cables.
Twisted pair wire: 4-core Type-V twisted pair wire. If the cable end is of pin seat connection, it is XH 4-core pin head. If the pin head is crystal connector, 1-to-1 connection shall be adopted, with the two cords in the middle formed into a pair of wires and other two wires formed into a pair of wires. In order to ensure accuracy of installation, the wires should be purchased from ourcompany according to requirements. The wire is 300-m 4-core shielding twisted pair wire and its parts code is 40134620.
9-core communication wire: One end is female connector DB9 and the other end is male connector DB9.
7.2 Installation Method of Device
1). Installation of Communication Cable
Ensure that each communication cable has proper conductivity and must pass the special conductivity test.
Communication signal cable shall not be put in the same slot with other high-voltage electrical cable or high-frequency signal cable, nor shall it be bundled with similar signal cables generatingstrong interference. According to experiences, this communication cable shall be maintained at least 15cm away from the high-voltage electrical cable. The minimum distance from other high-frequency signal cables shall be calculated according to the frequency and voltage of thesignal.
In event that there is not other cabling options and it has to be in parallel with such signal cables of strong interference, the construction side must be required to add shielding steel pipe.
The communication cable is required to run along the refrigerant pipeline in special cable slot. Thecrystal head if needed should be made after the communication cable through the pipes. But it is needed to pass the pipe with the communication cable, it must be protected well.
The position of communication cable is as follow (crystal head buckle is downwards): remove a certain length of insulating sheath of communication cable and then cut and make the terminal ofit uniform (note: don't remove the skin of it).At last, insert the signal line A and signal line B of 4-core in 2-core twisted pair communication cable into the middle cores of 4-core crystal head tomake crystal head.

Connection of Communication Module Connecting Cable: cut off the communication cable between outdoor unit and indoor unit and then connect the communication cable among outdoor unit, indoor unit and communication module with a 3-way phone connector.
Refer to 5) about connection between communication cable and optoelectronic isolated converter.
2). Connection of Communication Cable.
It is best that the twisted pair wire for communication is a complete cable. To connect under special occasions, be sure to connect correctly.Take special care on the direction of communicationline A & B or the correct connecting of the communication cable. The connecting procedures are as below.
Properly connect the copper core of corresponding twisted pair wire.Then, fix the connecting portionby soldering. To avoid oxidization, remember to protect the connecting portion with insulating adhesive or insulating sheath.
3). Installation of Centralized Control Cabinet.
The make and place of cabinet should be according to quantity of communication modules and their arrangement.
Each communication module needs independent power supply and 220-v AC socket must be installedin the cabinet to provide power.
The control cabinet should be placed in the room to avoid insolation and rain.
he control cabinet should be equipped with lock to prevent contact with non-managers.
4). Installation of Communication Module.
For every project,the address of communication module is unique and its range is1~255 so neverexceed his range or repeat the addresses.
Differentiate all the COM on the communication module.
Each communication module must connect with independent power supply.
5). Installation of Optoelectronic isolated Converter.
One end of DB9 connects with DB9 joint of optoelectronic isolated converter and the other end of it with RS232 COM of BMS, and then power on.
Adjust the DIP switch 1 and 2 of optoelectronic isolated converter at OFF position.
Connect the A end of communication cable with R+/D+ and B end with R-/D-.

If malfunction happens during debugging or usage of the system, the following causes should be
considered firstly:

Chapter 4 TROUBLESHOOTING
There is malfunction alarm on the BMS, but the running state of some or all of the units can not be displayed and the units can not be controlled.
Some communication cables are not twisted pair wires.
Replace them.
The crystal head of communication cable between outdoor unit and communication module is not well.
Make crystal head again.
The 3-way phone connector is broken. Replace it or directly weld it.
The communication cable between indoor unit and outdoor unit is cut-off.
Weld the cut-off cable.
The long-distance monitoring communication cable is cut-off.
Weld the cut-off cable.
The circlip in the crystal head can not act or it is pushed to the end so that it can not contact with the crystal head.
Repair the crystal head or replace it.
The crystal head can connect with 4 pieces of wires ,but 2 of which are not used.
Exchange them.
The communication cable short-circuits.
Repair the short circuit part.
The distance between twisted pair wire and power cord is below 15cm so that communication malfunction will result.
Separate them above 15cm or add shielding steel pipe.
The connection of COM is incorrect. Connect it according to this manual.
The Unit is not re-electrified after power failure after replace of chip or re-dialing of codes.
Re-electrify the unit.
The COM used by the communication software does not accord with the COM of BMS.
Replace COM or change the COM setting of software.
The addresses added in the software do not accord with actual addresses.
Modify the address setting of software.
The unit is not electrified. Electrify the unit.
The chip is not inserted in the unit or it is inserted at the opposite direction.
Re-check the chip and insert the chip according to open direction of PCB.
The address of communication module is incorrect or repeated.
Modify the incorrect address setting (connect the possible incorrect communication module with normal COM).
The circuit is normal, but there is no display of information to some or all of the units and communication malfunction also happens.

Mal function Possible Causes Troubleshooting
The circuit and other floors of devices are normal, but there is no display of information for one floor of devices.
Repeater should be installed or it is incorrectly installed.
Correctly install the reperater.
The displayer, controller or communication module non-corresponding with actual units is used.
No display of information to allthe units, there is communication malfunction indicator and TX light of converter is always on (not blinks).
The communication A and B are oppositely or incorrectly connected.
Check the circuit and make the line A to A and B to B.
Installation of circuit, device and project is normal but there also is communication malfunction to the software.
Check models of them, if not,replace them.
