Cornelia FunkeCornelia Funke was born 1958 in Dorsten, Westphalia. After university she worked for three years as asocial worker in an educational project, where she met children from difficult backgrounds. Additionally shestudied book illustration at Hamburg State College of Design. When she started writing children's books sheillustrated her own stories. At the age of 28 she became a fulltime writer of children's books and is today oneof the best known and most successful Germany writers. She currently lives in Los Angeles with herchildren.
