MUSCLES
DELTOID
• Top of shoulder• Raises your arm
up

BICEPS
• Top of upper arm
• Bends your arm at the elbow

TRICEPS
• Underneath the biceps (lower arm)
• Straightens your arm at the elbow
What action is this called?

TRAPEZIUS
• Triangular shape muscle at the back of shoulders and neck.
• Rotates the shoulders and moves the head.

LATISSIMUS DORSI
• Large muscle at the side and back.
• Pulls your arm down at the shoulder towards the back.
What action is this called?

ABDOMINALS
• Stomach muscles. • Pulls in your stomach
and helps your bend forward.

QUADRICEPS
Major leg muscles…allow for flexion at the knee
EXAMPLE FROM SPORT- Sprinting
HAMSTRINGSOpposite to quadriceps…allow for extension of the knee joint
GASTROCNEMIUSCalf muscles
Movement- allows us to stand on toes
Sporting example- long jump
PECTORALSAssist in movement of the chest, and abduction and adduction of the arms
Sporting example- Weight lifting, rowing
GLUTEALSThe gluteus allows us to move the legs in all directions- creates flexion, extension, abduction and adduction
