Exemplary Work Healthcare Science

The assignment was to compete in the HOSA Regional Competitions, representing CCHS HOSA & the Healthcare Science classes. Makenzie Lamon participated in the Nursing Assistant catagory on January 16. She’s shown here practicing her blood pressure skills prior to the competition.

Makenzie has mastered HS-NE-12: The student will perform basic nursing skills within the scope of practice for a nursing assistant while maintaining resident/patient /client rights. HS-NE-12-a. Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure using a manual and electronic equipment. She has also mastered CTAE-FS-2 Academic Foundations: Learners achieve state academic standards at or above

grade level.Makenzie has displayed a kindness and caring for her patients that can not be taught. She works very hard to make sure she has the skills to assist her patients. In doing so she was able to apply the lessons learned in her Nurse Assisting Class and place 2nd in the Region Competitions. Makenzie will be going to HOSA State Competition in March. Because of her hard work, I have selected Makenzie as my Exemplary Student.

Dewey Green is an outstanding Early Childhood Education student. He has mastered EDI-IECE-3 with his knowledge for analyzing the implication of Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences. He is explaining how teachers can help students who have visual-spatial intelligence can use pictures and images as visual aids to help foster this intelligence and learn new concepts. He created a poster with images on how to prepare a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Nick is already on the right path to become a future biologist! He always performs at his

best and exceeds standards in all of his work. Here he demonstrates various ways the DNA model can be used to show DNA being copied

during interphase prior to mitosis and meiosis. By performing differentiated

instructional task such as using the DNA model as a visual, he is able to draw an

accurate illustration of what the function of DNA to protein actually looks like in the real

world of a scientist.

Brittany Hall, Paige Walton, Emily Lee, Brittany Harper are outstanding Early Childhood Education students. They have all mastered EDI-HGD-7 with their knowledge for assessing the development of children. They created a visual aid to help them teach this standard to their peers in small groups round robin style. (ELA11SV1) These four are excellent team players.
