ProgramOverviewTheUniversityofNorthCarolinaatChapelHillwelcomeditsinauguralclass intotheFullyIntegratedforServiceTraining(FIRST)Programin 2016.FIRSTisauniqueprogramcombiningthreeyearsofanenhanced,expeditedmedicalschoolcurriculum,followedbythreeyearsoffamilymedicineresidency,leadingtothreeyearsofserviceinarural/underservedareaofthestate.

ThemissionoftheFIRSTProgramistoensureasubsetofstudents,passionateaboutunderservedcareinfamilymedicinehaveaccesstoexpeditedtraining, fullyequipping themwithskillsneededtomeetthestate'sgrowingprimarycareneeds.
