AnotheractvisitingfromtheUSAarebluesinfusedrockersKIDCONGOANDTHEPINKMONKEYBIRDS.AfoundingmemberofTheGunClub,anderstwhileguitaristforlegendarypsycho-billypurveyorsTheCramps,aswellasNickCave&theBadSeeds,thelegendaryKidCongoPowershasgaragebluespunkswaggerinspades.Aftersellingoutroomsacrossthecountryonvisitsin2015and2016,KidCongoandthebandarebringingtheirmixoffuzzguitars,NewOrleansdrumbeatsandbasslinesdrippingwithsoultoBluesonBroadbeach2018.

TourismandEventsQueensland(TEQ)ChiefExecutiveOfficerLeanneCoddingtonsaidtheeventwillhostaworld-classlineup.“Theannouncementofthefiveinternationalactswillhavebroadappealfornextyear’sfestival,aswellasshowcasinggreatqualitylocalacts,”MsCoddingtonsaid.“TheatmosphereofthiseventisalwaysfantasticandTEQisproudtosupportitaspartofourIt’sLive!inQueenslandeventscalendar.”The2018festivalisalsohostinganotherspecialevent,withproudpartnerTheStarGoldCoastofferingbluesfansafreeandexclusiveconcert,withthechancetogetup-closeandintimatewithmusiclegendJONSTEVENS.TheNewZealandstar,formerlyofNoiseworks,JesusChristSuperstarandINXSfame,hasrecentlyteamedupwithDaveStewartfromEurythmicstorecordhisnewalbum,Starlight.

FollowingpackedoutconcertsforDieselandRussellMorrisforthe2016and2017festivals,TheStarisexcitedtoonceagainbehostingthefreeeventwithJONSTEVENStakingthestage

intheTheatreonFridayMay18.Whiletheconcertisfree,seatingwillbeallocatedwithticketinginformationtobereleasedinthenewyear.

Theline-upalsoincludesiconicAustralianrockbandTHESCREAMINGJETS,playingontheSurfParadeStageontheSaturdaynightofthefestival.ThebandboaststhreeARIAtopfivealbums,aswellasfeaturingoneofAustralia'smosttalentedandbest-knownguitarists,JimiHocking.

FestivalDirectorMarkDuckworthsaid,“It’sgreattoseehowmuchtheBluesonBroadbeachMusicFestivalhasprogressed.Theprogramcontinuestoexpandwithmoreinternationalacts,andvenueslikeTheStarcontributingtothefestival’sgrowth.”

Withmorethan161,000visitorslastyear,theeventprovideda$20millioneconomicboosttotheregion,aswellaswinning‘BestRegionalEventQLD’and‘BestTourismEventQLD’in2017.
