What is Descriptive Video Service (DVS)?

DVS is an option that can be activated on many of the DVDs the library provides access to.

How do I find DVS materials using the library search engine?

• From the “Quick Search” screen, type in the words “video recordings for people with visual disabilities” and then click on the “anywhere” button.”• This search brings back 255 titles

Future Improvements to the System

To make searching more intuitive, and closer to the way people speak and write, the library will be adding the term “Descriptive Video Service” as a subject heading to future DVDs that have this functionality.

This will allow the public to search on this well known phrase to make it easier to find DVS materials.
