MARIOGOMEZ,CHILE–MishinFineArts,Room4007MarioGomez’s(b.1968)paintingsbeckontheviewertorecalltheirownchildhood.Manyofhisimagesareautobiographical, reminiscences of childhoodfantasies. The juggler, ballerina and horseintermingle with simple architectural constructionsthat are influenced by the literature of Latin-Americanmagicrealism.Theartistcreatesaworldoffantasy, reassembling familiar images and spaces,creatinganewsynthesis.Theuniquejuxtapositionofhuman, natural, and material objects creates a“paper world” – a technique the artist uses tosimulatecrumpledpaper.Gomez attended the School of Art at PontificalCatholic University in Santiago.
