Season's Greetings dental assistants!
I hope you all have had a lovely
Christmas and are ready for the new
year! We'll be writing "2017" on our
charts for the next 12 months! I am
excited about this new year, and with
every new year comes new
beginnings! Hopefully some exciting
new looks and ideas for the Calgary
Dental Assistants Association. Your
board is currently looking into
different and better ways to serve
you, to help you with continuing
education and to be a voice for our
profession. One of my new year's
resolutions is to be a better dental
assistant, for my patients primarily,
but also for my teammates and
fellow professionals-that's you! I am
honored to serve you, and I look
forward to each new opportunity to
do so in 2017!
Warm regards,
Chantelle de Jonge

Career Talks, a partnership between the
City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre and The
United Way, promotes high school completion by
having volunteers share their personal stories and
journeys into their respective professions through
small, informal discussion groups (1-10 students).
Each Career Talk focuses on the importance of
setting obtainable goals, navigating the world of
work, overcoming challenges and self discovery.
Career Talks take place during school hours and are
facilitated by an All in For Youth Liaison.
Career Talks are not professional
presentations, recruiting events, hiring fairs or a way
of convincing students towards a
certain career path. They are best used as a hook...a
way to motivate students to explore an array
of career opportunities. Everyone’s journey is
different.
If you are interested in volunteering with
the Career Talks program please contact
Christina David at
christina.david@calgary.ca
or 403-268-5747.
Check Out the Following Volunteer Opportunities
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO GET IN-
VOLVED! WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO FILL THESE VACANT
POSITIONS ON THE CDAA BOARD.
President Elect-this is a three year commit-
ment and looks impressive on a resume! The first year is a learning year, the next year you move to position of President with support from Past President, third year you sit as Past Presi-dent and assist that years President as needed.
Education Chair-this is a opportunity to net-
work and use your organizational skills to plan speakers, education topics and our annual Spring Seminar.
Dental Health Month Rep and Dental Assistants’ Week Rep-chose one or both
positions, volunteer with a friend if you like! This is a chance to plan events that educate the public on the importance of oral health and en-courage recognition of Dental Assistants as an important part of the Dental Team.
School Advisory Rep– be a Liaison be-
tween our association and the Calgary Dental Assisting Schools; attend meetings and exchange information, report back to CDAA on changes affecting education of our profession
It’s easy to volunteer, just email
president@calgaryrda.ca or speak to one of our
board members at a meeting.
