ald Catholic Church – Ralston, Paul will be
offering a Concert of his Inspired Music and
Inspirational Spoken Reflections! He will sing
at all weekend Masses in addition to sharing
his ministry Sunday evening.
His Catholic Music & Speaking Ministry began after a miraculous experience on December 12,
1993 (which he will share in his presentation).
Paul’s Concert & Reflection Series have been called a “mini personal retreat” by those who’ve ex-
perienced a lifting of heart, mind, and soul. His music and spoken reflections will provide you with

This is far more than a musical event and you are welcome to bring family and friends to hear his

ovember 1, 2015 2 Welcome to St. Gerald Parish
A Leadership Goal: During the last several months the Committee and Ministry Leaders of the parish have come together to zero in on the goals for the year. Welcome/Hospitality is uppermost in their minds. We want to do everything we can to make the newcomer or visitor welcome. Hence, we now have a new introduction to our weekend masses that in-cludes acknowledging our neighbors who sit near us at mass. The intention of setting
prayerful tone at our masses is uppermost in the teachings of the Church. So a good balance is struck with combining this welcome with a period of silence so we can make our prayerful intention before joining in the opening song.
Many Thanks: The Collections we took up the past two weekends for our Poor Fund, (St. Vincent de Paul Fund) to help the poor…was very successful. $13,290.54 was collected. God bless you all for your generosity. Because the last Holy Day and this coming Holy Day fall on Sundays we had to do this because the fund was at zero. The Poor Fund envelope in your mailed packet of envelopes can always be used for this purpose….does not have to be given on the Holy Day.
Refugee Family: Informational Meeting: Sunday, ov. 1 at the Church at 1:30 pm. Lutheran Family Services works, with the support of our local Catholic Charities, to help refugee families find a home. Many of these families have been in refugee camps for several years and after a long wait are now ready for resettlement. I believe St. Gerald contains enough generous and willing souls to help with this process for one family. Even Pope Francis challenged each parish in the world to do this. Lutheran family Services provides support and guidance. Right now I am looking for you to make yourself know by sending me an email or sending one to Deacon Lonnie Dinneen telling us of your interest. Raising awareness is first, gathering concerned parishioners is second. We will have a meeting with the Lutheran Family Services Refugee Resettle-ment Coordinator to learn more. Then we will see if we can do it. Pope Francis asked for every parish in the world to help one family. Ours is waiting in a camp someplace in the world. Deacon Lonnie Dinneen: lmdinneen2@gmail.com Fr. Korte: owkorte@archomaha.org
Special Memorial Mass: All Saints Day falls on a Sunday. But on the Monday following our Church remembers our be-loved Deceased, especially those who died during the past year and were buried from St. Gerald Parish either at a mass here or a funeral home service conducted by one of the priests. Special invitations are sent to the first contacts from each of those funerals and the Bereavement Committee Companions make personal contact. We light a candle for each person as their names are solemnly read. Their remembrance crosses are also placed before the altar. The intention of this mass is for all those who have died and we also remember any of our deceased welcoming any who wish to inscribe their loved one’s names in the Memorial Book. This too is placed before the Altar. Monday, ov. 2 at 7:00 pm—followed by a reception
in the hall.
Veteran Server Meeting: Attention all servers who are on the schedule for serving at weekend masses at St. Gerald---We will have a meeting on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 pm. I have some changes to the serving procedures I want to go over with you. The training part will last about an hour. We will then have a little party in the hall, just some snacks and drinks end-ing with a prayer service. Ought to be finished by 7:30 pm.
Upcoming Concert: Paul Koleske is a contemporary Catholic Christian Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Speaker and Re-cording Artist. I have invited him to come to St. Gerald to share his music and ministry with us. He will be here on Nov. 7-8. He will share his music at our liturgies that weekend: He will share two preludes (before mass), the Offertory Song and a Communion Meditation Song and he will speak to us briefly inviting us to the concert that he will give on Sunday Nov. 8 at 6:30 pm at the Church. A free-will donation will be taken up at the concert to help defray expenses.
Family Formation for the Public School Children and Parents: We continue with our November meeting on Wednes-day, Nov. 4 at 6:00 pm in the Grade School Gym. Anyone can come to learn about their faith. This time the topic will be on the Final Coming of Jesus…the end of the World…the Catholic Version as opposed to a lot of stuff you hear about the way some think it will all happen.
CEC Weekend: I am the Spiritual Director on the Men’s CEC Weekend Nov. 13-15. Anybody who has made a weekend, how about helping me recruit some men from the parish to attend. It’s a great faith renewal experience. Moves you from knowing stuff about God to actually knowing God.
Veterans’ Day Mass: On Wednesday, November 11 our parish and school celebrates a day when we honor our Veterans. A 9:00 am Mass will be held in the gym at Lakeview and all the school children attend. A special program is held right after mass to honor you Veterans in particular. The 4th Degree Knights will provide an honor guard. Any and all veterans from the vicinity are welcome to attend. Catholics Veterans: Invite your comrades, they don’t have to be Catholic, to join you. The 8:15 am mass that day is canceled.

Praying with the Scriptures
Praying with the Scriptures using Lectio Divina is a beautiful way to prepare for Christmas. Deacon Steve Luna will lead the prayer on Mon-days, 7-8pm in the multipurpose room, 96th & Q, from November 30 through December 21. Please contact the parish office if you plan to attend.
All Souls Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 2 at the 96th and Q Church. This mass will honor pa-rishioners who died during the past year. Family mem-bers are invited to light a candle to honor them. Can-
dles will stay lit on the back of the altar throughout November. All parishioners are invited to attend.
May the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Spiritual Adoptions My mother is now about 7 weeks pregnant and I am now about one half inch in length. My heart is beating with one chamber. My digestive tract is developing as well as my lungs, liver, pancreas and thyroid gland. At this stage in my develop-ment, folic acid is critically important to the proper development of my spine (baby2see.com). Did you know that a recent poll showed that 50% of Americans do not know that Planned Parenthood does abortions? That's a frustrating statis-tic, since they are the largest abortion business in the United States. They do more than 325,000 every year! This is very scary to me! Thank you for praying for me.
Remembrance Mass
Those who have experienced the loss of a child before birth or during infan-cy and those wishing to honor these individuals and families are invited to join Fr. Michael Voithofer at St. James on November 17 at 7pm. This special Mass will offer comfort, heal-ing and hope as we celebrate and hon-or our children. For more information call Whitney Bradley or Kay Buhr-man at 402.551.9003
Surviving the Holidays
At holiday time, many people are dealing with loss and are often caught in a di-lemma between the need to grieve and the pressure to get into the spirit of the season. Holidays or not, it is important for us all to find ways to take care of our-selves. This evening provides a great opportunity to learn how others deal with
the holidays when you have suffered a loss.
GriefShare will welcome people facing the holidays after the death of a loved one. DivorceCare will welcome people experiencing the pain of separation or divorce. Tuesday, November 10 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gerald’s Church, 9602 Q Street. Please call Kay Buhrman at 402-551-9003 ext. 1304 to register or email
