METAPHOR

Figure of speech that makes a comparison between two things that are basically dissimilar

Ex. “Life is a hard road.” “Frozen with fear.” “The words were music to her ears.”

SIMILE

A comparison made between two things through the use of a specific word or comparison, such as like, as, than or resembles.

Ex. “As brave as a lion.” “As sweet as honey.” “Acting like a baby.” “As stubborn as a mule.”
