EUCIPEUCIP (European Certification of Informatics Professionals) is:
• A pan-European qualification scheme for people entering the IT Profession and also for people currently involved in the IT Profession and wishing to further their professional development.
• The whole model is based on a detailed set of skills and competencies (more than 3.000 Elementary Knowledge Units) merged together to define profiles and certifications.
• EUCIP covers the core areas of planning, building and operating an IT environment; together with specific electives roles such as that of IT Administrator.
• Similar to ECDL, EUCIP is vendor neutral.• The qualification enables existing IT professionals and
students to document their competencies and skill sets for employers or prospective employers, and in doing so raises their market value.

EUCIP Core provides a solid foundation for all types of ICT related work. It gives a broad knowledge of the fundamental aspects of ICT. It encompasses an estimated 300-400 study hours, but this is dependent on the prior experience and knowledge of the candidate.
EUCIP Core is divided into three Knowledge Areas:A. Plan - The Use and Management of Information SystemsThis area refers to requirements analysis and planning in the use of ICT within an organisation. It is therefore directly concerned with management processes and defining requirements within a strategic perspective.
B. Build - Development and Integration of Information SystemsThis area includes processes for specification, development and testing, and maintenance of Information Systems. It deals with methodological and technological issues related to development processes.
C. Operate - Operation and Support of Information SystemsThis area concerns installation, supervision and maintenance of ICT systems. Essential topics include: Hardware and software concepts, management of networks, service delivery and support, and security.
TO OBTAIN THE CERTIFICATION THE CANDIDATE HAS TO GET THROUGH 3 DIFFERENT THEORETICAL AUTHOMATIC EXAMINATIONS

Professional level
EUCIP Professional levelEUCIP Professional level
EUCIP's Professional level demands advanced competence in a particular role.
The professional level is based on a specialised competence that a candidate may earn by working through a variety of educational modules and by gaining practical experience.
The professional certification requires the EUCIP core certificate.
To obtain the certification the candidate has to:
• Present a detailed curriculum (school experiences and work experiences),• Present a project,• Substain an oral examination based mainly on the project and on areas non
covered by the curriculum.

A. Autoassessment An on-line automatic self assessment system allows to individuate the candidate’s own proximity profile. Based on 18 Macro-cathegories, 156 competencies and more than 3.000 Knowledge Objects
19 /24
B. Proximity ProfileThe authomatic system allows to make a comparison between the individual owned skills and competencies and the ones requirred by the EUCIP Professional and IT Administrator profiles.
• Green: competencies owned by the individual and requirred by the profile.
• Red: competencies requirred by the profile but not owned by the individual
• Blue: competencies owned by the individual and not requirred by the profile
20 /24
C. Training Path
The individuation and definition of the skills and competencies which are not owned by the individual but that are requirred by the EUCIP Profile allow to define and create a specifical training path.
This training path:
•Will be based on the individual specific needs
•Can be integrated with other training modules present on the market

A previous experience in Italian schools
The EUCIP Core competence and certification scheme has been used as a basis to provide to the students a path of market-oriented skills and competencies.
The traditional school course of “Sistemi Informativi Aziendali” in the last 3 years of course covers by itself about the 70% - 80% of the competencies present in the EUCIP Core syllabus.
The students acquire the EUCIP Core competencies through a cooperative sinergy between different disciplines:
- Informatics - English - Law
- Mathematics - Italian Language
At the end of the school course students are able to sustain the EUCIP CORE certification exam.
