S ummer is around the corner. You
know what that means don’t you?
Every magazine will have the classic
smokin’ girl on the cover and fitness
tips on how to get a body just like hers.
Knowing that you will be bombarded
with a bazillion ways to keep fit this
summer, we wanted to prepare you for
the most important part of your exercise
regime: Recovery. A lot of people
don’t talk about the need for adequate
rest in between workouts. The body
repairs and strengthens itself in the time
between workouts, and continuous
training can actually weaken the
strongest athletes. Rest is necessary so
that the muscles can repair, rebuild and
strengthen. Below are 4 tips to a better
recovery and a stronger body:
1. Take a day off – Don’t feel guilty
when you take a day off, embrace
it. Your off day is the time that the
body adapts to the stress of exercise
and the real training effect takes
place. Your body needs this time to
replenish energy stores and repair
damaged tissues.
2. Eat Whole Foods – Food is crucial
to a speedy recovery. Eat often, and
make sure it’s the real stuff, like wild
fish, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and
organic fruits and vegetables.
3. Supplement – Make sure you are
getting the right kind of Healthy
Omegas or EFAs since every
cell, tissue, gland and organ is
dependent on them. With the
right kind of EFA you can expect to
decrease body fat, improve sleep
and concentration, and increase
energy and stamina. When sourcing
an EFA, be sure to find a clean,
sustainable source.
4. Sleep – It’s that simple…sleep. Try
to aim for 7-9 hours a night. A lack of
sleep can have an impact on stress,
and can lead to weight gain. If you
are having a hard time falling asleep,
try incorporating a magnesium
supplement into your bedtime
routine. Research has shown
that even marginal magnesium
deficiency can prevent the brain
from settling down at night.

ark your calendars, June 16th
is Father’s Day. Don’t give dad
a tie this year - 30% of dads reported
that a tie is what they want least. Since
dad’s not getting any younger, take this
opportunity to get dad healthier with a
gift basket of essential products. We will
even guide you along the way for the
must-haves for your dad.
Multi – For the dad in your life that
has poor eating habits consisting of
too many nutrient-depleted processed
foods, and stress in his life, it is wise to
supplement with a multivitamin. We’re
not talking just any multivitamin, be sure
to look for one that has at least 25mg
of B Vitamins. These will help keep his
stress levels at bay.
Saw Palmetto – This palm fruit is
getting a lot of attention for its effective
treatment of men with symptomatic
benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH);
in other words, enlargement of
the prostate gland. The use of saw
palmetto extracts can reduce the size
of the prostate, and has been used as
a preventive measure against prostate
cancer for years.
Ginkgo Biloba – The remarkable effects
on brain function and blood circulation
have made Ginkgo one of the most
extensively studied and widely used
botanicals in the world. Used to benefit
memory and cognitive function, ginkgo
helps ensure your dad is on his A-game
in the boardroom.
Ubiquinol – Changing your dad’s daily
supplement of CoQ10 to the more
absorbable form of Ubiquinol, also
referred to as QH, is especially beneficial
if he is over the age of 40 and taking
statin drugs. QH helps to maintain and
support cardiovascular health and
functions as an antioxidant to impede
free radical oxidation. Even more reason
for dad to start taking it.
