Meteorological Department (Azahani, 2012)
byJah Salmihani Mansor
7 – 11 September 2015Seoul, Korea
PROBLEM STATEMENTPROBLEM STATEMENT
Research will be conduct to find out:-
i.Is there any individual factor affecting the efficacy of Meteorological Courses?
ii.Is there an environmental factor influencing the efficacy of Meteorological Course? and
iii.Is there any trainers factors affecting the efficacy of Meteorological Course?
OBJECTIVESOBJECTIVES
Objectives of the study are as follows:
(i) Specifies weather individual, environmental or trainers will effect the effectiveness of Meteorological Course?
(ii) Determine weather individual, environment or trainers contribute the major factors in effectiveness of Meteorological Course?
SCOPESCOPE
Identifies the relationship between the individual, environment factors and trainers factors with the basic Meteorology course
Meteorological officer from 1997 to 2010
LITERATURE REVIEWLITERATURE REVIEW
Based on earlier studies:Based on earlier studies:
All three elements of the individual factors, All three elements of the individual factors, environment and trainers greatly influences the environment and trainers greatly influences the efficacy of training (Baldwin Ford, 1998; Chiaburu efficacy of training (Baldwin Ford, 1998; Chiaburu Tekleab, 2005;Kirkpatrick,1976;Schuller, 1983)Tekleab, 2005;Kirkpatrick,1976;Schuller, 1983)
Efficacy of training is also influenced by the Efficacy of training is also influenced by the content of the exercise (Peterson, content of the exercise (Peterson, 1990;Coffman,1987) but it is not relevant to be 1990;Coffman,1987) but it is not relevant to be one of the factors in this study because of the one of the factors in this study because of the content of this training has been determined by content of this training has been determined by the WMOthe WMO

SAMPLINGSAMPLING
The respondent is a meteorological Officer – who has ever attended a Basic course in Meteorology from 1997 to 2010
Sampling used is simple random
Questionaire sending
By mail- if there are not in headquarters
By hand – if there are in headquarters in Petaling Jaya
Based on (Krejcie Morgan, 1971), the sample size should be127, but the feedback is 105
RESEARCH INSTRUMENT AND RESEARCH INSTRUMENT AND
PILOT TESTPILOT TEST
Questionaire was adapt from:
Section A,C andD – Herbert Marsh
Section B and E – Thayer dan Teachout, 1995
Used Lickert Scale 1-5
Pilot test to 30 respondents
To verify the validity of the questionaire analysis factor are used.
FINDINGSFINDINGS
From this research, trainers is the major factors contribute in effectiveness of Meteorological Course. So, action should be taken to ensure the effectiveness of this course will enhance.
Here are some of the suggestion to the department:-i. Appointing qualified trainers with priority to the masters or PHD holders or the experienced officers in the field related to the module or subject course meet the effectiveness of the training.
DISCUSSIONSDISCUSSIONS
ii.Lecturers from World Meteorological Organizations (WMO) also greatly helped to improve the quality of teaching and learning
iii.Monitor the achievements of participants after the course
DISCUSSIONSDISCUSSIONS
DISCUSSIONDISCUSSION
iv.Promote training through hands on, case studies and seminars, in which case it can attract the interest of participants
v.The content of training programs can be strenghten by emphasis to the cognitive aspects (new knowledge), emotion (feelings of control) and psychomotor
CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION
Overall, this study successfully achieved the objectives. The findings of the study are based on the situation during the review was carried out and is expected to be used the invention for the sake of improvement of coming Basic Meteorology Course
