Description: The aim is to prepare children for social life and for schooling, to develop personal skills and abilities. Attandence is compulsory from the age of 5.

Timetable: Activities take a max.of 4 hours a day.

School year and holidays: Lasts from 1,Sept until the end of June. Christmas, Easter

Subjects: Activities aim: to develop different forms of communication, to improve the use of the mother tongue. (core and own educational program)

Early childhood education

Duration: 8 years in general( can be 4 or 6 years)

Description: provide basic knowledge and skills

Timetable: The school year consists of 172days Day ily teaching hoursare 4 to 6 + non. Compulsory activities

Subjects: Three level structure (National Core Curriculum, Frame Curricula, local curricula) Obligatory subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature, Grammar, Physical Education, Music, History, Foreign Languages

Starts at the age of 6 or 7

Age: 10-18, 12-18 or 14-18

Duration: 8, 6 or 4 years

Exams: entrance examination School leaving examination

Upper secondary education

Age: from 14 to 18/ 21

Duration: 4-6/7 years

Description: provide general upper secondary and vocational education.

Subjects: National Register of Qualifications

Exams: entrance examination, school leaving examination, vocational school leaving examination
