ABSTRACT
The Role of Magnetic field on the structure of Advection
Dominated Accretion Flow with Wind
By
Nassim Beiranvand
The main aim of this research is studying the effect of toroidal magnetic field on the structure of Advection-
Dominated Accretion Flows (ADAF) in the presence of the turbulence viscosity and diffusivity due to viscosity
and magnetic field respectively. We use self-similar assumption in radial direction to solve the set of
magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations for hot accretion disk. We adopt spherical coordinate to solve
our equation. The toroidal component of magnetic field is considered and we also assumed that all three
components of the velocity field are present in our work, . Then the equations reduce to a set of
OEDs about direction. To solve them, we put our symmetric boundary condition at the equatorial plane of the
disk. Our results show that the radial velocity of the flow material will have a positive value. So according to
previous work by Jiao & Wu 2011 we can define three regions. The first is called inflow region. In this area,
velocity has a negative value which starts from midplane of the disk to a certain inclination0 where
r 0 It is
obvious that in the inflow region, the accretion material moves toward the central object. Also the region where
r 0 is called outflow region which is placed between 0 and surface of the disk,
0 ,here the
accretion flow moves away from the central object. At last by our configuration, the region between the surface
of the disk and the polar axis is called the wind region. This area is very narrow and the material is blown out
from the surface in the form of wind. In this paper we consider two parameters to show the magnetic field
effects. These parameters include ratio of gas pressure to magnetic pressure in the equatorial plane of the
disk, . and also magnetic diffusivity parameter, . Numerical calculations of our model have revealed that
the toroidal components of magnetic field has a significant effect on the vertical structure of accretion disk.

Statement of Purpose
Nassim Beiranvand Ph.D Applicant
Human has always been enchanted by the night sky. From naked eye observations to the eraof multi-
wavelength surveys each resolved problem has raised up other questions about the cosmos;Starting
by formation of stars but not ending with cluster structure, observations have tested predictions of
theoretical cosmology, refining the assumptive models. Rapid construction of large telescopes and
sophisticated astronomical detectors in the past century has facilitated astrophysicists with new tools
and accordingly, very large amount of raw data to investigate the enigmatic universe From childhood, I
had an immense avidity for astronomy. My parents used to bring me books about nature and the
universe, but my questions were never ending. In elementary school, I joined some classes in
educational Observatory where I saw and learned to use a telescope for the first time . I had the dream
to become a professional astronomer since this passionate experience.During high school I was
interested in physics and mathematics by attitude to incorporate them as new tools to different
astrophysical problems. To follow my childhood dream, I was admitted Khoramabad University
,Department of Physics ,in my home city .As I am very interested in Astrophysics I was successful the
nation-wide entrance exam for universities (‘Conquer’), and became a MSc student at Damghan
University ,Department of Astrophysics . For MSc student this is necessary to become familiar with
divergent research areas in astrophysics. Thus, I was awarded a full grant to participate Ninth
introductory astronomy course RIAAM, Research Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of
Maragha ,26-31, 2012, August, Maragha Iran, also I attended Fifth National Conference on Astronomy
and Astrophysics Iran ,28-29 December ,2011,Damghan Iran. This was a promising opportunity for me
to extend my expertise in theoretical and technical aspects of Astrophysics .As I was very enthusiastic
and doing a lot of work both of professional and amateurs in astronomy , I was selected to be an
Official representative of the Astronomical Society of Iran for Scientific cooperation with Armenia so I
participated the Viktor Ambartsumian International Prize in Armenia also I received grant for
participate Fourth Byurakan International Summer School (4BISS) for young astronomers September
15-23, 2012, Byurakan (Armenia).I did my MSc thesis about accretion disc around black hole under
supervision Dr.Shahram abbassi .I joined his group at IPM Institute for Research in Fundamental
Sciences (IPM1) School of Astronomy and started research The main aim of this research is studying
the effect of toroidal magnetic field on the structure of Advection-Dominated Accretion Flows (ADAF)
in the presence of the turbulence viscosity and diffusivity due to viscosity and magnetic field

to solve our equation. The toroidal component of magnetic field is considered and we also assumed
that all three components of the velocity field are present in our work,(ϑ_r ,ϑ_θ,ϑ_φ) . Then the
