PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Wild Weather: We have had a wild week so far with the heavy rain. Please travel safely wherever
you are going.
Thank you to all parents and carers who came and picked their children up so promptly
yesterday. With the way the rain was coming down and the number of road closures occurring I
did not want our students to be stranded at school. Students picked up early on Tuesday will
have their absences recorded as justified.
With the amount of rain we have had there are some families who have not been able to get to
school and student absences will be recorded as a justified absence for yesterday and today,
once you have contacted the school.
The rain is supposed to ease today so hopefully things will return to normal tomorrow.
School Swimming Scheme: This started on Monday and students seemed to enjoy themselves. It
was not on yesterday due to the closure of Jervis Bay Road but was on today.
Pedestrian Crossing: I encourage all parents and carers who drop their children to school or pick
them up each day to use the pedestrian crossing. The crossing ensures that all students, and
adults, are able to cross the road safely. The crossing is also an opportunity to teach your
children about the importance of crossing roads safely and why we need to look out for cars.
Thank you to those parents that use the crossing regularly. If you have any questions or concerns, please come and see me.

K/1/2 NEWS Year 2 went off to swimming very excited on Monday. Year 1 and 2 worked hard on their writing
and reading while they were gone.
There will be no homework this week. I forgot to hand it out yesterday and with so many students
affected by the weather who haven’t been able to get to school I’ll give the students a week off!!

3/4 NEWS What a wet and windy week we have had so far!!
Mrs Brown is on leave for the next 4 weeks. I am looking forward to working with the students.
This week we started the School Swimming Scheme at Bay and Basin Leisure Centre. The
children have been tested and are ready to begin their lessons today. The Scheme will continue
next week. In English we have started Procedures. We will be looking at the structure and
examples this week. In Maths we are learning about Fractions and Decimals and Measurement.
We are also practising our times tables, which are very valuable in all areas of mathematics.
If you have not checked out the books in The Book Fair please do! There are some great books.
Keep in touch,
Lyn R and Susan.
5/6 NEWS This week in 5/6, year 5 have been leaving in the middle session to participate in the ‘School
Swimming Scheme.’ We are continuing with our Information Reports and most students are
working on their final draft. In Maths we are learning about percentages and how to find the
percentage of monetary amounts.
A reminder that homework is due on Friday and home readers daily. 5/6 rarely return their readers
and with high school just around the corner it is
essential that students maintain a high level work
ethic.
The year 6 fundraiser last week was very
successful with a total of $175 being raised, this
will go towards the end of year gift from the year
6 students to the school. A big thank you to
parents for making cupcakes / slices for the day.
Thank you for your support
