A 6 1/2 year review of 16,754 injuries seen in a multi-specialty sports medicine clinic found that 25 percent of the 12,681 injuries in the top 19 sports occurred at the ankle and foot.

A 2-4mm joint space should bevisualized across the talo-tibialjoint.

When the talus and calcaneus are subluxed, often a large radiolucentjoint space is visualized approx. 5 mm.

Superior and inferior calcaneusand cuboid articular surfacesshould be congruent.

Joint spaces throughout thefoot should be 2mm throughoutand symmetrical across the joint

This talar prominence beak fits into a corresponding recess on the calcaneus. It may lie posterior to it when talus is subluxated.
