Dear all
I am writing again, in what is becoming a bi-monthly letter, to draw your attention to upcoming training
and development opportunities in the diocese. Here are some ideas from the CMD website -
www.cmdnewcastle.org
Tuesday 24th May 6:30-9:00pm Church House, Storytelling with Chris Hudson. For clergy,
church leaders, messy church leaders, and anyone else who tells stories.
Tuesday 7th June 12-2 Church House, Re-vitalise Harvest. Inspiration, hints, and tips for the
harvest season. Lunch included.
Tuesday 21st June 12-2 Church House, Re-vitalise social media and copyright. Wondering how
social media can work for your church? Unsure what images and information you can use
without breaching copyright? Join our communications officer, Martin Sheppard and Revd
Rachel Scheffer for inspiration, hints, and tips. Lunch included.
Tuesday 28th June 12-2 Church House, Re-vitalise Christian-Buddhist dialogue. Are you curious
about the beliefs and practices of people of other faiths? Has your own spiritual journey been
enriched by practices from other religious traditions? In this session, Revd Gavin Wort will
reflect on a spiritually and intellectually enriching ‘interfaith adventure’ in Hong Kong in which
he explored Christian-Buddhist dialogue. Lunch included.
Thursday 14th July 1-2:30 Church House, What have the Greeks ever done for our appreciation
of John’s gospel? Join Richard Bryant and Alastair Macnaughton to find out! Lunch included.
Tuesday 11th October Church House, Effective Conversations; a useful day for anyone for whom
the art of an effective conversation is an important part of your work. The day will be led by
Nicky McGinty, who is part of 3d coaching, www.3dcoaching.com. Lunch included.
Tuesday 18th October 9:30am-1:00pm Church House. Preparing for Retirement half day for
clergy, A day led by Ecclesiastical and the Pensions Board and the Housing Department. Lunch
included and pre bookable one to one appointments with the housing department available.
Wednesday 26th October 9:30am-4:30pm. Orientation Day for those new to the diocese, Coach
tour including lunch at Church House.
Finally, a message from Peter Kenney; he is setting up a family systems coaching group for
clergy. He would like two more people to join. There is more information on the CMD website
under ‘health and wellbeing’. Please contact Peter directly if you are interested.

Please check the website for more information, and details of who to contact for each of these events,
or if in doubt, contact me and I will put you in touch with the relevant person. There are also a range of
opportunities outside the diocese on the website, together with up to date lists of local retreat ideas.
All of the events listed above are free, and I can also offer grants. The form to apply for a grant is on the
homepage of the website.
Yours in Christ
Catherine Pickford CMD Officer
