When we get home hungry, we have no idea what to eat

In Finland we waste food 20-30 kg/person

Idea for AP is to use ingredients already existing at home, that they don’t deteriorate and to be thrown away

Idea

Then create a meal or a snack for ones family or friend

And save money when the food aren’t wasted

This ap can be used for example teaching costs and about environment: why it is more economical to prepare a meal yourself

Idea

Easily and quickly made meal can also be everyday life gourmet!

Encourages to be innovative, inspirational and to think outside the box -> what we can do!

Idea

Action

Group of 9th grader girls(inc. 2 exchange students, one teacher)

Carried out as a homework following given instructions

Return within two weeks Digital or mobile phone

camera Food/ingredients at

home Report with photographs

Instructions

Take a picture from the content of your fridge in the morning

Think what you can prepare from the existing ingredients

This way can do the “what to eat” thinking during the day

Consider whether you need to shop something little on the way home

Then..

Prepare the meal and take pictures along the way

Something new!

Idea was to create something new

Use recipes only as gudeline

And if your family is sick…

Well done!

Fuel for smiling

all of the participants were so excited about this homework.

“…a good idea considering the future…” “It was nice that one could plan and also

photograph what was doing…” “it was good that one could work independently and

to come up with their own stuff…” “…nice different task, and it was fun to

implement…” and our exchange students thoughts: “It was nice

task. When I was making the task I was thinking that we waste so much our food. And that said I cooked something whit help of my host mum and I learned to cook some typical Finnish things.”

Comments

Idea worked very well as homework

Everybody did it whit great attitude

The results were each different but all very good

Everybody learned something evaluable and useful for their future and independent lives

Conclusions
