DIY: Make your own booklist
How to make a booklist at
www.lfpl.org

Steps
1. Log on in your account at www.lfpl.org .
2. Create a name for your new list.
3. Search for titles for your list.
4. Add titles you like to your “working list” by
selecting, “add titles to my list” on top
right side.
5. Assemble the final list.
6. Save, email or print the list.
Go to the Louisville Free Public Library website www.lfpl.org
and click on “My Account”.
Getting Started
2. Create a name for your new
list• Go to “My Lists” in the left column.
• Click on “Create new saved list…” at the
bottom of the “my lists” column.
• Name your list.
Your newly-created list shows up in the “Saved Title Lists”
on the left side and in the “Show List” drop-down menu.
3. Search for titles for your list
• Mark titles you want to keep on your
working list as you go along.
• This action will compile the list for your
review when you are finished.
4. Add Titles you like to your
“Working List”
• Search the catalog for titles.
Each time you find a title you like, click “Add to My List” in the
upper right corner of the item’s record.
5. Assemble the final list
When you are ready to review your list .. .
• Go to the left column “My Lists” and scroll
down to “Working List.”
• Click on “Show list details…” to begin
assembling your final list
Move titles
• Move titles from the working list to the new
list you have created
– Use the drop-down menu to select the name
of the list you created in step 2 (or any other
saved list you have created).
– Click on “Move to:” to transfer the item you
like to the final list.
– Use the “Copy” button if you wish to copy the
item to more than one saved list.
– Use the “Delete” button for items you do not
wish to keep on any list.
Use the drop-down menu to select the name of the list you
created in step 2 (or any other list you have created).
Your list is complete
• Now you have made a list.
• You can choose what you want it to look
like – Brief Bibliographic, Full
Bibliographic, Chicago Manual of Style or
APA format. From your working list, you
can also choose whether to have
availability information added to your list.
• You can email the list to yourself (or
someone else) print it, or save it for later.

• Benefits of saving lists in your account:
– Keep track of what the library has that
matches your needs.
– Use books on lists to create compilations.
• Monthly booklists can be used as reading
logs and posted for everyone to see
More tips
• Saving lists to your hard drive:
– Allows you to paste into Word docs
– Allows you to cut out what you don’t need
– Provides a record to email from your school
account that will include your email address.
