General Transfer Legislation
What triggers transfer?
Attended class in any term when enrolled full time;
Reported for regular squad practice; Participated in countable athletically related
activities; or Received athletics financial aid for a summer
term.

Two-Year College Transfers
General rule:
A SA who transfers to a member institution from a two-year college must complete an academic year of residence, unless he or she meets the following requirements for immediate eligibility.

Who is academically prepared?
• Attendance for at least one full-time semester or quarter.
• Average of 12 hours of transferable degree credit per full-time term of attendance.
• Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA.

Qualifiers with No Previous Four Year Attendance
Attendance for at least two terms as a full-time student; and
• Graduate; or• At least 25 percent of the credits earned by the
student must have been earned at the institution awarding the degree.
• Average of 12 hours of transferable degree credit per full-time term of attendance; and• Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA.

Must Earn:• Six-semester/eight-quarter hours
of transferable English credit.• Three-semester/four-quarter
hours of transferable math credit.• Must be treated as English or math credit at

Any two-year college courses accepted as degree credit by any of the certifying institution’s colleges, schools or departments.• Note: must earn the requisite grade to
allow the course to be accepted as transferable.

SA must complete 2-4 transfer requirements before the SA transfers to the certifying institution. Otherwise, SA must serve one academic year of residence.

Progress Toward Degree
In addition to meeting two-year college transfer requirements, SA must also meet progress toward degree.
◦ Transfer students must have earned a minimum of six-semester or six-quarter hours of transferable degree credit during their last term of full-time enrollment.

Exceptions to the otherwise applicable academic requirements for 2-4 transfers exist; however, only qualifiers may access them.
2-4 Transfer Exceptions (Qualifiers Only)
Discontinued/Nonsponsored Sport◦ Two-year institution dropped or never sponsored
SA’s sport;◦ Never attended another institution that offered
sport; and◦ Still earned a transferable GPA of 2.000.
Nonrecruited Student-Athlete◦ No athletics aid;◦ No previous competition or countable athletically
related activities > 14 days; and◦ SA eligible for admission to certifying institution
prior to two-year attendance.
2-4 Transfer Exceptions (Qualifiers Only)
Two- Year Non/Minimal Participation
◦ No competition or countable athletically related activities > 14 days for a two-year period prior to participation at certifying institution.
◦ Two-year period does not include any pre-collegiate time.
Return to Original Four-Year Institution
◦ No unfulfilled residence requirement at four year.
