SBIR Phase I
• One challenge of DOE GNEM Program is obtaining accurate locations over broad areas
• Obtaining accurate locations over broad areas requires GT data providing accurate epicenter and OT
• We are developing a Ground-Truth Monitoring System (GTMS) consisting of an inexpensive, lightweight smart sensor unit that can be mailed to and emplaced near large mining regions
Jarpe Data Solutions, Inc
The Challenge*
• Monitoring Goals (standoff distance < 5 km)• 1 km epicentral distance• 0.1 second origin time• 0.3 magnitude units
• Hardware Goals• System cost < $1000• Weight < 1 lb• Autonomous operation for 6 months• Onboard processing to locate and characterize events
* Large Mining Explosions
How do we achieve these goals?
