Depicting Daylight: Types of Multiple Image Display

Preview:

DESCRIPTION

How can daylighting can be understood on the Web? Image size, sequence vs. simultaneity and interaction affect legibility. We formatted daylit interior graphics as image matrices, animations and Quicktime VR. After designers helped identify usability issues, we refined the alternatives, and characterized their attributes. Viewers preferred interactively selecting a single large image from multiple thumbnails rather than two or more smaller still, animated or interactive views. Small multiples allow overview browsing to select choices for detailed study. Graphing interface, image and usability characteristics, shows how photo-realistic, symbolic and analytical images complement each other. so combinations promotes legibility. http://www.uoregon.edu/~design/nywc/pdf/replite.pdf
