MESSAGE FROM THE CHILDREN’S COORDINATOR
We are in the process of designing the existing children’s worship center located in the older building that will offer a different approach for
both the adults who work with this group each week and the little ones who attend each Sunday.
Our mission has always been to share God and Jesus with our children and engage their minds, imagination, creativity and curiosity. Hopefully,
they will want to return and bring a friend. We want to continue to grow in strength for the 9:00 am service. We are praying, and we want to en-
courage more people to get involved with this ministry.
One of our goals is to offer an 11:00 am children’s worship service. In the past, several families who come to the 11:00 am service, want to
know if there is a children’s worship service. Right now we face the challenge of different age groups. We want to extend our age group from
kindergarten thru 5th grade. We currently offer kindergarten thru 3rd grade. My personal requirement to get involved with this wonderful minis-
try is: you don’t have to like children. You must love them.
Right now we are in the process of rearranging the furniture to accommodate different centers. We are in the process of having signs made to
reflect the various centers. They are as follows: Reading (area with books cases and chairs); Science and Nature; Arts and Crafts
Welcome and Gathering Center (to encourage the children to choose one of many activities such as puzzles, books, and other material relating to
that day’s Bible lesson). This particular center can be used for prayer and story time.
We do have a very special center with a red telephone booth. We call this “the quiet space.” This center might be needed to calm, or talk with
God.
To date we have purchased new Bibles which are truly written to engage the young minds of children. Also, we have an electronic version and
we have printed out many of its stories and placed them in the children’s coordinator’s office. We also have gathered a sizeable assortment of
books and other materials for art and craft projects, science and nature activities as well as material to use at the welcoming table.
I look forward to working with these individuals who give their talent to this ministry for our children. A very special thanks to Carolyn Koppe
who has willingly given of her time and resources to create a fresher new look at this program. What a tremendous talent she brings to this
ministry!
I would like to thank the church for giving me the opportunity to work with this wonderful ministry.
