Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lebanon TN
December 2016
Preaching, Teaching, & Reaching - Acts 5:42
Blessings Church,
December is a special month at Hillcrest Baptist Church filled with musicals, Sunday School fellowships, children singing, and the praising of our Saviors birth. We don’t know exactly when or where Jesus was born, but we know He was born because the Bible says so. His spirit in you and me also says so! We are actually not told to celebrate His birth, but we are told to celebrate His death. Why are we celebrating His birth? You have to be born to die! His birth was like no other! Jesus was God in the flesh lying in a manger, and even more special was the fact that He was virgin born. Several weeks ago I stood in the town of Bethlehem, which has become a pathetic place filled with crime. Sadly, Bethlehem is now only 15% Christian. There are only a few shepherds who remain in the fields around Bethlehem. New condos, apartments, and houses have covered much of the land on the Jerusalem side where the shepherds once called home. This was once a great place where the shepherds and David focused on watching and caring for the sheep. We had an opportunity to preach, sing, and worship in a cave, like the one Jesus was born in. The Catholics have declared most of them sacred, but the only sacred thing was that baby. “For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:11. Jesus is the only sinless Lamb who became a Sheep and Shepard. He died as a Sheep, but rose from the dead as our Great Shepard! Read Psalm 23 and get blessed! Christmas at Hillcrest won’t have santa claus, reindeer, nor a talking snowman, but we will have the Greatest Sheep ever born and the Greatest Savior that could be con-ceived. Read John 10:11,14, and 27-29. Have you met Him? Have you turned from your sin and trusted Him to save you? Christmas is nothing without Jesus, and we are nothing without Jesus!
Merry Christmas,
I Love You,
Bro. Glenn and Family

Word every day! Sing a song from your heart unto Him! Give Him
praise for all that He has done!

Lottie Moon spent nearly 40 years telling people in China
about the God who created them, loved them and gave His life for
them. Today, billions are still living and dying without ever hearing
this good news. This cannot be tolerable to those of us who have ex-
perienced God’s grace and know God’s glory. We are compelled to
pray relentlessly, give sacrificially and go willingly because of Who
He is and how much He loves all peoples.
Why should we give? We give because God deserves the
worship of all people. And we who are redeemed and made new in
Christ are compelled to proclaim the Gospel, the only hope for the
billions who have never heard of Jesus. The more we give, the more
missionaries can be sent!
Please give to the LMCO throughout the month of December.

We are coming into a busy, busy month. This month is one
where our minds and hearts are turned towards families and friends.
All of that is not a bad thing, unless it gets us off the real reason for
the season. Let’s make sure we do not neglect the fact that this time
of year is all about Jesus. Hope to see you in Sunday School every
Sunday in December (except for Christmas Day when we will only
have worship services only).
Have a Merry Christmas - Bro. Mike

Come On In and Check Us Out!
We love Max Lucado and he has done it again. Our Decem-
ber feature is Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado. Christmas
begins what Easter celebrates. The Child in the stable became the
King on the cross. Because of Bethlehem, we have a Savior in
heaven. We love Christmas and so does Max Lucado. Read Because
of Bethlehem and have a Merry Christmas!
Please join us on December 5th as we unite together
to share the good news of this holiday season to many here in
Lebanon. Please personally schedule this evening for the glory
of God and to His great commission of sharing your personal faith.
We will meet in the Jubilee Building at 6:00 pm.
My how this year has flown by. We have seen many changes
in our nation and our church. The question would be has there been
any change in us as believers? Are we closer to Jesus than we were a
year ago? Are we depending more on Him today than yesterday? Are
we more obedient? Have we stuck to His ways and truths?
Join us this month in D.T. as we continue our study "In God We
Trust". Our nation has left the Biblical principles on which we were
established, but that does not mean we should follow as believers.
Let's move closer to Jesus and make an impact on our community,
our state and our nation by not just realizing our responsibilities as
citizens of this great nation, but also citizens of a greater place,
Heaven. See you in D.T.
