Every day, throughout the Order, members of the Knights of Columbus are making adifference. Unfortunately, our good works are sometimes our best-kept secret. We want people throughout the countries where the Order is present, to know about the hard work that Knights and their families domake their communities better places. To help in this effort please submit your activities to kofc.org/knightsinaction.
Kevin Daudlin Ontario State Deputy
Starting my second year as your State Deputy, I can testify to the energy that this order has in the local communities and theeffort that each member, at the state and local level puts into the Order for the sake of continuing the legacy of our Venerable Founder Fr. Michael J. McGivney. I am proud to be part of it. This year's theme for Ontario is ``all called to be good shepherds!
Are we being good shepherds with our members and their families? Are we cultivating an environment where they canthrive? Are we looking after them? Are we using the Knights of Columbus to bring families back to the Church? Are wein new members to make our councils stronger and more vibrant? Are we looking after our church and community?feeding our flock? Let us continue ministering to those in need with our programs so that we inspire others with our Christian values throughour actions. Let us bring more members to our order, so that they can put their faith into action. Let us be proactive withwhat we do in and for our order which is a mirror to what we believe as Catholics.

What we need to do and what I am expecting is an Admissions Degree (1st Degree) to be held each month in every council. Every Council --course you can't hold an Admissions Degree if you do not have a candidate or two. Butyou can plan for one, and now with the alternative to read the degreDVD, it is very easy to do practice and you will feel comfortable. Our programs alone are a huge source for new members. Why do we need to doall know of a number of people from our prospect list from our membership drivewho had signed up but neverAnother example I have , was this summer someone wanted to join our order but was told he had to wait until that in all cases, people felt they were not welcomed and wanted because of how long it took to go to a degree. What a missed opportunity for them and their potential council. To solve this issue, schedule a degree every month in every council. No new member? Use the time to practice. This way, everyone in the council already knows when the next degree will be held, they can tell the candidate at the time of sign up, and your image will be one of welcoming which is what we should be. We can do this ! We need to do this! ACTIVITIES IN THE DISTRICT
It is the responsibility of each Grand Knight to invite the District Deputy and the District Warden to council events. Also notify the Secretary of the Western Zone, Graham Nickalls, of council events such as: Annual AnniversaryTournaments, picnics, etc. Once the event is finished,District Deputy with a short write up of the event.
