Emailtemplatesareessentialto"protect"theHTMLinanemailblast.TheyprovideconsistencyandensurecriticalpartsoftheHTMLarenotalteredduringthecreationofablast.

TheWYSIWYGweprovideinouremailblastworkflowisahelpfultool,butitisn'tperfect.Itworksbestwhenyouletithelpyouwithbasicformattinginsteadoftryingtocreateanentireemail.

Templateshelpyoubyseparatingthedesignofanemail(whichmostlycomesfromthetemplate)fromthecontent(whichyouaddinStep3oftheemailworkflow).Wehighlysuggestusinganemailtemplatewhensendinganemailblast.

STEP1:FindorCreateYourEmailTemplate

CREATEanewemailtemplate:

‐Click"Emailtemplates"inthesubnavigationbar

‐Onceyouareattheemailtemplateinterface(seeImage1),click"AddanotherEmailtemplate"atthebottomofthescreen

Thebasicemailtemplateworkflowissplitintothreetabs:FromInformation,HTMLContent,andTextContent.Totheleftofthesetabsaretwoicons,onetoviewthelistoftemplatesfromStep1,andanothertopreviewyourtemplate.

Hereyouprovidedefaultinformationthatyouwanttobepopulatedintoeveryemailblastyoucreatewiththistemplate.Fillingoutthesefieldsisnotrequired,butitmaybeuseful.

• Bydefault,youwillfirstseeyourHTMLtemplateintheWYSIWYGviewerwithouttheeditingtoolbar.

• Toseetheeditingtoolbar,clickintheHTMLcontentboxanditwillappearatthetopofthecontentbox.

• Toviewthesourcecode,click"Source"intheupperright‐handcornerofthetoolbar.

‐Addinganunsubscribelink:(notearrowinImage1)

• Toaddanunsubscribelinktoyourtemplate,youwillneedtobeintheWYSIWYGview(notthesourceview).Byclickingthislink,hypertextwillbeautogeneratedwithallofthenecessarycodetotrackunsubscriberatesinyouremailblast.

• AllHTMLtemplatesrequireTemplateBeginEditableandTemplateEndEditabletags.

• IfyourtemplateisUneditable,theonlypartofthetemplatethatwillappearintheemailblastworkflowisthecontentwrappedbetweentheTemplateBeginEditableandTemplateEndEditabletags.Thisiswhereyouwanttoplaceyouremailcontent.

Plaintexttemplatesprovidebasicheadersandfootersforyourplaintextemails.BecausenoHTMLcanbeused,thetemplateincludesbasictextandfullURLs.

• Bydefault,plaintexttemplatesarealwayseditableandwillalwaysdumpallofthetemplateintotheemailworkflow.

• TheEmailBlastworkflowcapturesandholdsontoplaintextinatemplate.Asaresult,eveniftheHTMLTemplateisswitchedhalfwaythroughtheemailworkflow,theplaintexttemplatewillnotchange.

‐Addinganunsubscribelink:

• Toaddanunsubscribelinktoyourtemplate,clickthehyperlinkthatisabovethecontentbox.Byclickingthislink,aURLwillbeautogeneratedwithallofthenecessarycodetotrackunsubscriberatesinyouremailblast.
