May the Month of Mary
Happy Eastertide to you all and I hope that you were able to celebrate as a family over the Easter (if only through zoom) and enjoyed the good weather which sadly seems to have disappeared again. As we leave Lent behind and move into Eastertide, we rejoice in the promise of the Risen Christ to be with us for eternity. During these challenging times, it is important that we hold onto this and please remember to pray to Mary our Mother as we move into the month of May.
As we move into the summer term, it is difficult to know when things will return to normal or the 'new normal' as we keep being told. However, I want to take the opportunity to reassure you that we will come through this together as a community and we are here to support you as a family - something that was shown through the amazing turnout for the guard of honour for Mrs Flynn last week. When changes are announced we will seek to communicate with you as and when we know.
We will be continuing to make fortnightly phone
calls to all families to check on your well-being
and see if there is anything we can help with. This
will be followed up by an email from the class
teacher the following week to check in on home
learning. I know as a father of three primary aged
pupils how challenging home learning is proving
to be and teachers will be contactable through
the email to provide additional support if
School News needed, but we really do appreciate your hard work in helping the children keep up with their studies. Your child’s class teacher email is on the following page for you to contact if needed. I hope you managed to watch the well-being assembly led by Miss Pollard and her beautiful assistant Roux, earlier in the week. Feedback has shown that she is a big hit with staff and pupils, and we may need to see if we can arrange a more permanent role for her at school next year! Have a lovely weekend and keep safe. Mr K Shakespeare

Domestic Abuse
Are you worried about someone or yourself?
We understand that staying at home might be particularly difficult for some people.
Home is supposed to be the safest place for us all right now, but if you are experiencing domestic abuse then the advice to stay at home could be frightening.
If you or someone you know, whose family or partner is threatening them, controlling their behaviour or being violent, this is domestic abuse and we can help.
Please visit the following website links for help:
https://www.womensaid.org.uk/
https://www.coventryhaven.co.uk/
Victims of domestic abuse can take the following
steps to safeguard themselves and others:
• Keep a mobile phone close and maintain virtual communications with trusted contacts. Develop a way of raising concerns if you do not contact them for periods of time- use coded messages or safe words, leave curtains or blinds open or use any other agreed method to allow them to raise the alarm if you can’t.
• If at risk, call 999. Use the Silent Solution
system if fearful of being overheard or seen
call 999 then 55 to have the operator
transfer the call to emergency services
without having to speak.
Please use https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus for the
current government advice on staying safe and who
needs to isolate.

Hello to our
lovely Year Two’s!
We hope you and your families are all well and that you have enjoyed your
Easter break. It has been so lovely talking to lots of you on the phone this
week and learning about all the exciting things that you have been doing at
home. We were blown away by all of the marvellous things that you have
been getting up to including baking scones (with extra jam and cream!),
bird-watching and writing your very own comics! It was very pleasing to
hear that some of you have even been applying your Maths skills by creat-
ing weather charts and helping to write shopping lists for your family!
We hope that after your restful, exciting Easter break that you are now
ready to continue with Week Four of your home learning. It was nice to
hear so far this week that so many of you have been continuing with your
home learning packs, increasing your knowledge and understanding of dif-
ferent types of animals!
Remember to stay home and stay safe and keep making us proud.
From Miss Summers and Mrs Greene

The Big Brummie Campout
As you already know, SIFA Fireside (homeless charity in Birmingham) was founded by our very own Sr Sabina before she passed earlier this year. Sr Sabina was head teacher at Corpus Christi for many years before she founded SIFA Fireside and was known as the Mother Teresa of Birmingham. Next week they
are holding the 'Big Brummie Campout' to raise funds and we thought it would be a great activity for you to do at home for 'the common good' during the school closures.
The Big Brummie Campout is happening Friday 8th May and we are very excited for everyone to get
involved. We are asking friends and families to set up camp in their back gardens, build make-shift dens on balcony's or cushion castles in their front rooms to raise money for SIFA Fireside. To sign up as a ‘camper’ we are asking supporters to donate a minimum £5 to the appeal, in return for access to an
exclusive Activity pack filled with fun activities including stargazing and leaf printing. The pack will have everything needed for an evening under the stars, including family-friendly recipes and craft activities.
The evening will also help bring people together, with a hosted live stream, music performances, and the chance to share camping experiences on social media.
https://www.sifafireside.co.uk/pages/181-big-brummie-camp-out-2020
If you are not able to financially support at this time then please remember the homeless in your
prayers,
Almighty God, who loves all His children and is a home to those who are in any need or trouble; inspire your Church with the spirit of Christ’s love, empower us to battle the scourge of homelessness, and
help us to live as one with one another; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, ever world without end.
Amen.
I do hope that as many of you as possible will be able to support the Big Brummie Camp Out so that the legacy of Sr. Sabina to support the homeless continues. Please do share with as many families, friends
and parishioners as you can and remember to send your photographs of your ‘camp out’ to admin.cc@romeromac.com so we may share them with others.
